@@physics2730 We need to find the rate of change! Instantaneous and Average speeds can be found via the Secant and Tangential lines! If we’re given a curve, we would get a line drawn, if average, which should cut/intersect at duo points! And, if we’re asked to find instantaneous speed (at an instant) we’d get a line drawn, such that it should intersect on a point! Hence, we could find the rate of change, rise and run!

But what is slope and if that matters then why we are Concedering rise / run or opp/adj side

Slope is just the measure of steepness(chadai).. As we increase the opposite/rise, the slope increases and as we increase run/adjacent, the slope decreases.. So slope=rise/run or opp/adj

to be more exact, this method rise over run can only be used on straight lines, unlike curves, which requires dy/dx formula
