@@SARDOGFL Folks drive / boat without reg all the time. For autos, the reg sticker is usually affixed to the windshield. Additionally, LEOs can verify the doc internally via the database. Here, the reg sticker was affixed to the boat legally. FWC officer could have simply verified the doc. The resisting will probably get dropped. As officer gave him no warning that he would be arrested before jumping on the boat and attempting to restrain the man. He's 60 -- and MAYBE his reaction time was a bit slow to respond to physical encroachment by the officer. IN any event, even if I agreed with you, once LEO verified all his info, he certainly didn't have to cart the man off to jail. That was ridiculous.

I've actually seen someone take a Swiss army knife with a tiny 2 inch blade and stick it straight into the heart of another person who died instantly. That's how we work. " I was reaching for my driver's license..." only after the handcuffs were going on. Looking at an objectively, there was something going on with the individual on that boat and that he would not make direct contact with the officer and would not follow directions given to him. He seemed hesitant about contact being made with him. That would spark my curiosity as well. If you don't have anything to hide, don't act like you're trying to hide something.

Operating a boat is a bit different than driving a car. You can be inspected at any time (for no reason) while acting as "captain" of a boat. Dude could have given his driver's license to the officer, then enjoyed a fun day on his boat after likely receiving a written warning for not having his registration on board. @@HurpMuhGurp The cop started a very calm conversation that led to a couple of calm and reasonable request. Starting at 1:26 he simply asks if the guy if he had his registration. That was a lawful request. Then there is calm back and forth but the guy does not want to produce an ID (also lawfully requested). I'd bet the cop was getting a sketchy vibe while the guy appears to be avoiding eye contact, looking around, like someone that is trying to figure out how to get out of there. But then the guy starts a staring contest or something (what was that about?). He never offers his ID. Put his hand in his pocket - during that back and forth he only refers to money being there. Never produces, nor says he will produce an ID. When the cop has had enough and goes to slap the cuffs, all of the sudden, "You wanted my license, I was getting it out of my pocket..." line of BS. I have no problem with people asserting their rights with cops. A lot of people scream "I know my rights," but they don't. A fish cop can inspect you boat. Florida fish cops are state cops, and can demand to see your boat registration in additions to life jackets, fire extinguishers, sound producing devices, and if applicable, your fishing/hunting license. If there is reasonable suspicion that you may be in violation (this is not the level of probable cause yet) they can require you to identify yourself while they investigate. You don't have to tell them where you're going, where you've been, what you were doing*, for how long, how much you've had to drink. But you better know the nuances of that game if you don't want it to backfire in court. For example - I don't know what the requirement is if I was out fishing. If you have fish/game on board you probably have to tell them and allow them to inspect it. This guy turned a warning about his registration in to an arrest because of a chip on his shoulder. I don't feel sorry for him.

This is where our country is messed up. We have police, fbi, home security, park rangers,fwc and how many more entities that our government gives the power to mess with the people, arrest us, steal our property and violate our rights, all in the name of so called public safety. Them you have the courts rule that it is not actually these entities responsibility to worry about our safety. I don't ever recall where it was even the governments responsibility to worry about our safety. They pass these laws just to take our monies and rights away for their own reasons. They give these individuals the right to do these things on victimless crimes. Laws are designed to protect the people but they are using them to extort people. I do believe there will be another civil war in the USA unfit will be we the people against a tyrannical government. Then the government will be using the powers and weapons we have paid for to suppress us just like I e the north did to the south after the Civil War. To them, its all justified. Imagine that!!

I go fishing/camping a lot and they are mostly smart asses but when they ask to see fishing license,drivers license or see what you may have already caught just SHOW, and they will be on their way and we can get back to fun. I got a no fishing license citation one night but it could have been worse,my 2 grown sons were with me and we was highly intoxicated but remained quite cool and collected for the most part 🤦🏻‍♂️
