This is a live version of Cop Killer by Ice-T & Body Count. They were in New York City August 14, 1991. I love Ice-T... he's my idol and the sexiest man on the planet!

Since we now live in a police state, this should become the people's new national anthem. I don't rise or put my hand on my heart for patriotic bs anymore but I would for this song.

I saw the original Lollapalloza in Raleigh. Body Count hadn't put out there first album yet, so most of the crowd didin't know anything about them. Came out at the end of Ice-T's set and did Body Count(which some of us had heard on Ice-T's new album) and Cop Killer(which nobody had heard at the time). Brought the house down. still the most feroscous pit I've ever seen.

Rick James RIP, a member of the early 60's band the Myna Birds. The Band was also one of Neil Young's earliest. I know the first time that I read that, I was also scratching my head ... Still Rick James & Neil Young were once band mates.

nice gesture from Body Count to play some background music to the bouncer's show!

I saw these guys open for GNR and Metallica in '92 in Oakland. They kicked arse! And during their set, they had two bodyguards with sawed-offs standing on each end of the stage! Awesome!

I find it funny that this song is always credited as rap. This is good old vintage punk. The kind of angry stuff that must have made Johnny Rotten proud.

I want to find this full video. I was right there at the front of the stage. There was a small add in the Village Voice that said Body Count was playing. $15. Me and my boy got off work and went straight there. Chuck D and Eddie from Leeway was there too.

The fact that he plays a cop on SVU isn't a double standard. This song is about brutal, murderous, racist cops. The charactr he plays is a god cop. Same message, different perspectives, different sides of the same coin. Props to him for having the balls to say it.

Jello Biafra (of Dead Kennedys) has said that Cop Killer was one of the best punk songs ever written. And Body Count has said that they set out just to be a great ounk band (like Dead Kennedys.) Arguing over labels is pointless as punk is an attitude, and this my friends, is punk rock.

The dissection that you speak of is simply how music is catagorized by the industry. The industry can't simply market "Music" to everyone and think it will stick. So, they create different styles out of certain trends and market it towards the demographic that they see at the shows. It's not something that we just made up. It's something they just made up. It's just become a part of the industry. Don't like it? Take it up with them.
