Update: Cantu is no longer on life support after an extensive surgery. He's still in the hospital and will be so for a while, but he's "doing well" according to his family. Further update: as of November 22nd, Cantu is out of the hospital. After 7 weeks in the hospital, he is at home.

But if their budget that they were looking forward to spending on a fancy SWAT vehicle or some shiny new cruisers or a bunch of cool new tech suddenly dissappears, and it is directly the fault of this one cop, then *maybe* some of the supervisors will get the message and start training their officers better so this doesn't happen again. The best way to motivate cops is to squeeze them where it hurts, right in the budget.

It’s nothing new. My father was beaten by cops for no good reason when he was 18. They then charged him with assault of a police officer even tho he never touched them. This is insane, reminds me of the time when I was 19 on my way to work at 10pm, got pulled over for a blinking light on my rear view mirror after dark. I pulled over and started to get out of the car to talk. That apparently is a big no no, but as I was young, did not know better, got a gun pointed at me and was ordered back into the car. I could have been shot over a blinking light on my way to work, but the cop let me go and I was almost let go from work for being late, but luckily I picked up a coworker on the way who vouched for me, on why I was late.
