If I was a professional footballer I don't think I could play at Qatar knowing I was playing in a stadium built by dead people. It needs to be boycotted, by players and fans, fifa can be as powerful anything, but if no one watched a World Cup, there wouldn't be anyone to have power over...

i think fifa should be run like a leaderless confederation of all leagues where each nation has a representative who can come with notions for the assembly to look at and vote on whether to implement into the game or not and all the representatives would be switched out every year or every 2 year just to keep all the ideas up to date

The fact that no one stood against blatter in the last election before this one just shows how how much Democracy has failed within the walls of FIFA. No, I think Platini would be worse than Blatter as a president. Seems like he used to love football when he was a player,but all he sees now is money from Qatar...Platini comes in and nothing will change. It would be the same old FIFA.

Plus we've already told you USA vs Cuba was in Baltimore a city that's literally was war zone right now. Other games had 50,000 fans at it so fuck off. Go back to drawing 4-4 with Trinidad and Tobago(LOL) and getting a bullshit penalty to go to the Final.

Jacob Samples You have no argument buddy USA SUCKS. Their fanbase sucks . Mexico games attendance was an average of 61,000 per game all SOLD OUT. And USA games attendance was a average of 31,000. Your soccer is growing? Can't even beat mexicans to get higher attendance? LOL. USA couldn't beat Jamaica you got killed by set pieces because your team doesn't know how to defend or attack. Mexico at least improved and beat Jamaica fairly. good luck in the playoff on October. You're gonna need it, especially in front of pro mexico crowd in Rose Bowl

We all heard about Luis Figo trying to run for FIFA president at a time or another and although Real fans hate the guy I want all football fans to bear with me. Figo is a former player who has played around the world in all types of stadiums and atmospheres, and when you get a pig thrown at your head I'm pretty sure you'd be a little traumatized but he didn't let it phase him. Figo has played in the modern form of the game and I think it would be better to have someone who knows the ropes and has the same mindset as all the players to become president. I also think that the 2022 World Cup should be held in Spain or England. With great stadiums in Spain like Barca's Camp Nou, Real's Santiago Bernabeau, Atletico's Calderon, Valencia's Mestalla and more and England's great stadiums like Manchester United's Old Trafford, Arsenal's Emirates Stadium, Manchester City's Ethiad Stadium, Chelsea's Standford Bridge, Wembley and the list goes on. These two countries also have great football atmospheres and neither have held a World Cup since the turn of the century so they're more than worthy and anxious to host one.

As a Russian myself I would say that the positive of hosting the world cup in my country will be a big boost to the development of the sport that we definitely need (Russian football has been steadily declining since the collapse of the USSR). That being said, I am concerned about the racism and massive cultural differences that will most likely occur during the event (and that's not even mentioning the issue of bribery that created this world cup in the first place). Honestly though, I don't think boycotting the Russian world cup is a good idea simply because of the tense political situation that is happening around Russia right now. Unfortunately, the politics has already invaded the beautiful game, so we should all hope that it does not affect us further.

Alexander Suhonen Portuguese, Spanish and Dutch people aren't often depicted as racist. Despite that I think you have a point.
@andreyefimov1550
@andreyefimov1550 9 жыл бұрын
João Santos I think the problem with racists in Russian football is that they aren't punished adequately enough. For example the team Torpedo played almost all of last season without fans because of constant racist bans and they couldn't care less. I think punishing the clubs with things like point reduction would actually achieve something, since that's what matters the most to these fans.

I understand how much the World Cup means to nations it is in the best interests of all parties to put it (and the Oympics) in countries that can actually host them. I'm not saying that just because I am an American put it in Canada even. Places where football is developing (US, Canada, Austrlia) would mean a lot and have a certain importance to them when the World Cup arrive. Other places like Spain, Italy, Germany, or England will make it easier because of there strong football culture.

Astra and ASA Tg. Mures are some of them. Both teams are playing in Europa League. Beside scams and all bad things Romanian football has a brighter face,in our first league we have the official team of one of the greatest Football Academy in Eastern Europe managed and owned by Legend Hagi,and also the new face of Steaua which makes very good impressions with young talents being transferd and a lot of money being invested in staff,conditions,trainers by Becali who is out of Jail.

I've been saying for the last few months that Qatar's 2022 World Cup won't happen. The heat in the summer is unbearable, but if it were moved to the winter, it would cause chaos to world football. Most of the world's leagues start in August and end in May, so having a holiday in the middle to host a world tournament would upset all European leagues, apart from arguably Germany, where they have a winter break. Also, the qualifiers for the following Euros, in 2024, would have to be more bunched up, as there would be half a year less to play just as many games. In summary: Corrupt

Blatter will be remembered for how he was head of FIFA when it was very corrupt however he has done some things that have been good but he has 2 take responsibility for everyone under him actions. And also even allowing Qatar to be in the biding for the World Cup is a joke.

Spencer FC You didn't mention that the countries hosting the World Cup have to spend a lot of money to put it on, and FIFA makes all the money from the actual tournament. Surely in Brazil for example FIFA should have put some of the huge amounts of money they make from the tournament (sponsorship, broadcasting rights) to help fund it. I also think that it needs to be put into the FIFA constitution how the money spent is divided up and then CAF and AFC couldn't complain surely? More openness when discussing new proposals I think would be great as well as well as better accounting as to where the money is spent after FIFA has handed it out.

By no means was Blatter a good guy. He enabled a corrupt organization and consolidated a lot of power into the hands of a few self-interested people, himself included. But, his work in turning football/soccer into the global game it is today is incredible. Ten or fifteen years ago, people in much of Asia and North America (excluding Mexico) did not care about the game at all, but today it is the most popular sport is lots of Asian countries and is rapidly on the rise in the United States. Sports has always been a platform for equality amongst all people, especially in racial segregation, and Blatter did help push that more. He was a bad person and those actions should be remembered, but so should all the good tings he did for the game.

I think of it like this There are people behind the set bribing the Fifa president and telling him what to do. Just like in the USA. Obama was talking about not sending troops abroad because it wasn't our business. Few days later he sends them abroad. Was football (soccer) better than it was in 98'. The kind being played? Yes most definitely. The way teams run and spend money. Hell no. Screw financial fair play. That means clubs like PSG, Chelsea, and Man city will stay above the competition because they can buy whoever that want whenever they want. Boards are more harsh on the gaffers they choose, and the world cups are being given to the wrong countries. Why give a World Cup to Russia? After all they've done to Ukraine. Give 2022 to the USA! Help soccer grow by unifying the world In one of if not the best country in the world right now.

Except North Korea isn't very fond of foreigners or anything from outside of North Korea. People that live there literally have no contact with the countries outside of North Korea. Every TV program is about North Korea and its leader, even in schools kids aren't taught much about the countries outside their own. NK would never want to risk the chance of its people finding out about what's happening outside its country.

Qatar should never have been given the World Cup and I will be boycotting the tournament entirely. It's not about jealousy, its because of the links to corruption over Qatar's bid. Also, Qatar have never even been ranked in the top 100. Basically there are 32 places in a World Cup, one given to the host automatically. In Qatar, the host place will be wasted because they will likely not win a game. I lived in Doha and have been to a few league games and the stadiums are empty. Even when you see the games on TV the stadiums are always empty. Its embarrassing to think that a country with such little passion bought the World Cup to give the local royal family something to high five over. And finally, the state of working conditions for the migrant construction workers. These people come form India, Pakistan and other places around the world in the hope of providing for there families' back home. What do they get? Less than third world accommodation and worked to death by heart attack in 50c heat. For the love of the game, join me in boycotting the world cup and all its qualifiers.

Most of the gigantic stadiums have turf because American Football is played on turf. Sure, you can replace it with grass but that is a lot of money.

And why don't they pick the next World Cup country out of a hat or something. Can't blame anyone for it. If the country doesn't want to host it, they don't put there name in the hat.

TheKN128 I'm just saying, its the most logical way to do i, you can opt in and out of the drawing if there is a complication or something or other.

julian wilson it's not that easy! And I don't think it's "logical" at all. Nations will spend millions of $/£/€/¥ or whatever currency they have, to try win the vote, if they done what you suggested, no-one would bid as it would be too much of a risk.

No one can say that they're pro-Blatter, but they could easily say that, if there hadn't been any corruption allegations, the Blatter would be seen in a much better light.
