When Sunderland plays Newcastle, the North East stands still.
And ahead of the first Tyne-Wear derby in eight years, the stakes were always going to be that much higher.
The Countdown To The Tyne-Wear Derby follows a collection of Sunderland fans 24 hours ahead of their face-off with their arch-rivals.
As kick-off ticks closer, the anxiety grows but so does the hope. All united in their love for Sunderland. And perhaps more importantly, their hatred of Newcastle.

Went as a Leeds fan.The atmosphere-created by the Sunderland fans inthe first half was the best I have witnessed. The Newcastle fans were very quiet considering they won - my mate whose a Newcastle-fan said a lot of tickets were sold to corporates. Shame because a derby needs both fans to be up for it!
