If I saw a 280ZX like that at my local copart for $700, I would grab it as fast as I could. A non-running Z or ZX that isn't crashed sells for $4000-$5000 around here. Add $1500 if the floor pans are not rusted out.

The 280zx is a 2+2 model. That is why it has back seat. All the late model 280zx's had the same hood. The vents were for getting rid of heat from the engine compartment. They would heat soak when the weather got hot. They also had a fan that blew air onto the intake to try to help with heat soak. A lot of people think the fan is a turbo. Lol 😂

You were right about the the toasted van. It has a similar steam cleaning setup my brother-in -law had in his van. The biggest reel is to hold the vacuum hose to suck up the dirty water. The smaller reel is the hose that delivers the heated water to the nozzle. The bottom tank should be for the collected dirty water. The van we had, had a bib plastic tank to hold the clean water which I didn't see on that van. That 280ZX is pretty cool. I had a '74 Datsun 710 I bought when I ws in the army. It had a 4 cyl, very nice dark burgundy with white interior & slotted mags. I found some C50-13's I put on the rear. It would pull the wheels off the ground hitting 2nd until I put a spoiler on the front. I really liked that car even though I beat the crap out of it, lol. Thanks for sharing.

Yes, I am totally interested in these old Panther platforms as a friend of ours just sold one to us. A really good friend of my wife's knows we are broke, don't have a car, and he offered us his Mercury Marquis Brougham for $200, and it's in pristine condition. My parents also bought new in 1972, a Mercury Marquis Brougham which I used haul all my friends around to party back in the day. I have a history with this brand, and she brings back many memories. Speaking of history, when I as 12 in 1972, my dad comes driving up in a 1972 Datsun 240Z, and I freaked out, he might as well have driven up in a supercar as that's the way that car affected me! Then, in 1984, my mom bought new, an 84 Nissan 300ZX which became mine in 1986 when she could no longer drive. My wife, then girlfriend, bought a 1975 Nissan 260Z as her first car. A lot of history in this vlog, thanks Randy, and bring on those old boats of yesteryear. They will be collectable at some point as car like these will never be made again. Good luck on the 280Z, I hope you get it as I'd love to see her back on the road. 👍✌

Def a carpet cleaning van. Those are hose reels in the back. The "compressor" is actually a blower that's inverted to create vacuum. It looks like an old propane (used to create heat) unit hence the fire. Stanley Steemer used propane in the 70's and 80's and had many vans burn to the ground.

I had an "81 Datsun 280zx 2+2 as my first car in 1991. The 2+2 space made it fun with my Friday night date for "parking" back in those days...lol.

I owned and loved the 280zx That one is a 2+2 model with the back seat added. They did not have any turbos till the next model which was the 300z. I had to replace the rear shocks on mine to calm down the bouncey ride. Those egines last forever. What killed them was rust. That frame needs to be looked at really close. Have it sanded or blasted and apply undercoating on all metal frame parts. My door panels even rusted. I had mine all restored with a medium blue metal flake. It was gorgeous with black louvres on the back window. Buy it...treat it for rust and you will love it.

Oh yeah I have a couple of the two-seater 280zx had a small block for 406 in my 81 now going to the 60 LS with a standalone wiring harness and computer done from LSX they're amazing cars and those l28 blocks are really easy to work on and very hard to blow up as long as you don't have an engine fire from leaky injectors common problem easy fix
