So happy for you both! I actually started knitting when I was pregnant, it was during COVID. She's 2.5 now and knitting for her is one of my favourite things. Fills me with pride to see her in something I've made. That and it's alot quicker than knitting for yourself 😅 tearing up watching your trepidation, so many including myself feel the same at the beginning of pregnancy, hopefully you can begin to relax into the journey more and more as time goes on. A huge congratulations! I noticed your bump whilst you were in the second yarn shop lol. I’m so excited for you! I have 2 boys, both grown up now and my knitting journey really took off when I was pregnant with the first. Trust me, they don’t stay small for long, so even if your baby knit is a bit big, they will soon grow into it and if you keep your leftovers you could always make alterations later on 😊

Congratulations to both of you on your baby! It's a blast to knit baby clothes. I knitted something like that in high school as a project. A total body suit. In blue. 3 years later, I used it on my first born. I was a mom at 21. I was scared that I wouldn't know what to do. My mother told me my instinct would take over. She was right. Don't be afraid. There are many moms out there willing to provide support. Join a moms to be group. It will fit eventually, even if it's big at first. They grow like crazy! Cheers!🎉🎉🎉

Hi Kika, what lovely news to hear! You are going to make a great Mum because what a baby needs most is lots of love and I think you have that in spades. The jumpsuit is so cute. The buttons are perfect. You have to remember that baby and toddler woollens usually get washed more often than adult and if you put fancy or wooden buttons on, they may need to be taken off before washing (don’t ask me how I know this 😁) and that is a pain. Love, love that your little family is growing. 😊❤

I guessed it! I am in my 60s and I have 4 children. As for being prepared, nobody is! You might think you are, but there are always surprises. It will come naturally. Don't be nervous, you'll be fine. Babies are surprisingly resilient. Just do your best.

Congratulations-this is a very exciting time for sure. My babies are now 33 and 28. WOW, has time flown. The best advice someone gave me is to enjoy each part of your child’s development-sometimes fun, sometimes tough, but always joyful in the end. Best of luck for an easy pregnancy.

Oh my word, congratulations on the coming baby! That's super exciting! I'm legit so happy for you. Yeah, baby sizes range like crazy - some are teeny tiny, and some are beeg! And if you knit something that doesn't fit the little one, you can always donate it - lots of parents who would appreciate that. :)

Congratulations on your baby!!! I remember feeling very unsure of things after I had my oldest. I was ordering all these baby development books because I was nervous about doing everything right. My husband finally said to me that I needed to step away from the baby books and try to relax. It’s so strange what your hormones do to you. If you have a second pregnancy, it is more relaxed because you know what to expect. Enjoy your next few months and I can’t wait to see all the baby knits you create. Also, I love all the suggestions on yarn shops in Copenhagen. I’m hoping to make a trip there next summer. Happy knitting.

Yes baby things, so exciting. A whole new world. Congratulations, Maybe you could look at Ravelry and get a few free patterns just for the sizing and measurements and use them as a guide to create your own. You will be amazed at what will be worn a lot and what won't and what works and what doesn't, it's all learning, all mothers have done it before. Don't stress about it.

Congratulation! I am so happy for you and your husband. The baby's jumper is beautiful and should fit well with sleepers underneath. Babies grow fast and personally I think their clothing should be a little loose so you can easily get them in and out of them. Looking forward to seeing more makes. Try to relax and enjoy this season of your life. They have a lot of books in the library for first time moms experiences, but really just relax as much as you can.

Congratulations How excited!!! I am so excited that you shared with us, I am a mother of 3 girls, and I remember feeling just as you are now. But no worries, most just comes naturally :) I love being a mom even though it’s exhausting, sometimes frustrating, but so rewarding and special bond and love like no other. I knew it! You are positively glowing! Congratulations to both of you! I too used clothes to figure out patterns. It works. Don’t worry if it’s too big. They will grow into it. First babies are smallest as newborns , but they sure grow fast in the first year. It should be winter again when it fits.

Thats so exciting and so sweet! Now you can make lots of little things that only take a day or two to make.:) If you cant knit the sleeves top down then do a provisional co. Work the sleeve and then the ribbing . That way you undo the bind off at the cuff later to add more length. Otherwise you can just cut the cuff off and add length. They grow too much to wear sweaters out so its good if you can keep growing the sweaters to keep up with them.

Congratulations on the good news! During covid times i knit a lot of baby clothes for friends and coworkers and i've found its probably for the better if the clothes are a bit "too big" for the baby, they grow so fast that even if you knit something 3 sizes too big they'll fit into it in no-time. Babies also like having lots of wiggle room because they're constantly stretching and moving in ways adults don't. So don't worry about making things too big for the baby!

Your baby overall is adorable! It's always better for baby garments to be bigger than smaller as they grow so fast and layering for different temperatures is important. I'm sure you'll get a chance to put it on your baby and it'll be so special for them to wear. Your feelings and doubts are normal for a new mother, maybe you can talk to some other new/experienced mothers to share your experiences. Congratulations!

I’ve made two things for my friends’ babies, and the feedback I got back is that (1) the bottoms were too tight when the children were wearing diapers (oops); (2) neither baby would keep a hat on, no matter how adorable they are to make. I honestly don’t think I’ll stop making cute tiny hats, anyway.

Congratulations! I am so happy for you both. This is incredibly relatable. Most of my pregnancy I was so excited and not worried. But there were definitely times where I was very aware of how little I knew about anything! Being a parent is very humbling but also empowering in my experience so far. You know nothing, and your baby’s individual needs will be something you have to puzzle out. They will change so frequently, and you’ll have to pivot with them. Over and over. It gets so much easier over time. You’ll still be adapting and guessing, but you’ll get more comfortable doing that! I learned to knit (anything more than a straight line) via your tutorials here, and then I had the skills to knit a little baby pixie hat for our boy before he was born. It was so sweet to see him wear it and know that I made it with love for him. So thank you for your tutorials. It was so fun to see it when it was so big on his small head his first winter, and then it stretch to fit him as he was bigger until it struggled to cover his ears. I need to make a new one for this coming winter, but feel quite out of practice! 😅😂 You both will be amazing parents to this little one, your baby is already so loved. 💗 - Alexandra

Congratulations! In America, we call the baby garment you're making is called an onesie. I think that's because its pants and top together. Onesie are so very useful. Just pop baby in and go. You certainly sound like a new mom to be! Very anxious and unsure. And positive and crazy happy. Babies grow so fast, it will fit some time! Get sleep now! You won't get much for the rest of your life!

Awee 🥹❤️ Baby blankets are also a great thing to knit, because you will need a couple. Selmas sleep suit by petiteknit is great for baby’s first winter 😍 Both she and knitting for Olive have some great sweater patterns as well - but the more stuff you have that are open, cardigans, where you don’t need to pull it over baby’s head is just easier 😍 Little bonnets are also nice!

How wonderful to be expecting! It is such a beautiful knitwear you are doing. Don’t worry about the size. If your first born is anywhere like mine, he grew 500gram per week from the first day he was born, 4kg baby. He was 12 m when he was 4 months old….only breastfeeding up till he was 15 months. Ofcourse I started introducing home cooked baby food when he was 6 months old. I had to buy clothes for a 2 year old to fit my 4 month old baby! He was such a strong n healthy baby.
