I love your coloring! It looks really good! I think your reasoning as to which colors you would choose made a lot of sense. Thank you for sharing your talent with us.

I have around 50 markers, but am missing a good denim blue, and I was happy to see your recommendations. I also liked your ideas for greens. I liked the reminder to use a gray to help with shading if I'm missing a color that would blend well. I will have to try that soon. I skipped out on a few color families also, so I could get other colors I really like and use.

Thank you so much! I love that your choices were made so carefully and that you walked us through it in real time, so I had time to write down the numbers of the markers. I am just starting with copics, and since they are expensive, it helps to have a well thought out grouping to start with. I like bright colors too - so really liked your choices. Many thanks!

Jane, I'm so glad that you found it helpful! When I started (a few years ago now), choosing colors was intimidating because I could only afford one or two at a time. Enjoy your Copics! I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning and thought maybe it just wasn't for me, but little by little I became more comfortable with them and now reach for them every time I want to color. Make mistakes, learn from them, and just enjoy the process.

@@KaraLynneCards Thanks for your encouragement! I'm loving them, but am having to collect them slowly, like you. I stuck with watercolor and water based markers for years but finally decided to try them and am having fun. It helps to have people like you on U tube showing us how. Thanks again for your clear explanations!

OHMYSTARS! Your recommendations are fabulous...wish I'd had this when I started making my purchases (I wouldn't have bothered with the Violets and Blue Violets!). Awesome selections/combinations, some of which I have and will, with your guidance, put them to much better use! The hex chart is fantastic, isn't it! Thank you again for inspiration! hugs~carol

Hi Faith, thanks so much, I'm glad you found it helpful! Sandy Allnock's hex chart is linked in the description below the video. For the Copic chart, I just do a search for it in images to find it, or go to the Copic website and do a search there.

Good morning kara Iv just come across ur vlog and im so inspirered by u Im very bew at this and i have dyslexic and i need all the help i can get Please can i ask whats the best copic markers 4 me to start off with as iv not much money so i cant buy a big pack of them and i love bright colours and i live in the uk? Do copic markers have a white marker with fine lines as i want to try to do hair with streaks of white just like its the sun on the hair or can u suggest another white marker i can use over the alcohol markers? Great vlog and iv just liked ur vlog❤️❤️❤️
@KaraLynneCards2 жыл бұрын
Hi Angela! I'm glad you found this video helpful! They are expensive and I ended up buying one or two at a time. It takes patience to slowly create your collection, but it is worth it. I would start by deciding what you like to color most. When I started, I wanted to color people, so I bought a cheap set of alcohol markers (I think they were Bic) for clothes and such, but bought Copic Es (Earth tones or browns) for skin and hair. There isn't a white Copic marker. White can be achieved several ways, but from what you described, I think your best bet is to buy a white gel pen. I like the Signo brand, and I've purchased them while in the UK in the past. Copic markers are translucent, but gel pens are opaque.

@@KaraLynneCards Hi kara Thanks 4 gettting back to me do u no in the uk where i can buy copic markers separitly cos u said about me buying so many to start off with? Where can i get free printouts to c if im any good at it to start me off? If u cant get white copic do u no any other make cos the white has to b ok to go on alcohol markers? Thanks again 4 helping me as i dont get b4 and iv liked and subscribed ur vlogs❤️❤️❤️

@@angelad7164 Hi Angela, the only place in the UK that I found to buy them individually was online at CultPens, but there may be more places. I live in the US, so I have never looked for them in the UK. If you google Copic marker charts, you will find many images that display all of the colors. I do not draw/color anime, so I am not helpful about that. I would watch anime artists on KZbin to help give you more tips about printouts, white markers, and what they use most often.

I do not have any copic markers, so am wondering if there is a difference between refillable markers and where to purchase the in to refill
@KaraLynneCards Жыл бұрын
Hi Dina! Sorry for the late reply, somehow I wasn't seeing my notifications. I like Copics because they are refillable and I use them enough to refill them. I usually get the refills from Dick Blick online. They may be cheaper in their brick-and-mortar stores if you have one near you. Lately, there are many non-refillable brands that are affordable. I would test out a couple Copics and compare them with those to see if the investment is worth it. If you find that the others blend as well, have the variety you want, and replacements are cheap, there's nothing wrong with that!

Hi Sue, with so many variations in skin tones, I found that Sandy Allnock has a great Copic chart called the human rainbow. It's free to download from her site. Here's the link to the post where she introduces it: sandyallnock.com/how-to-color-ethnic-skintones-thehumanrainbow/

Do you store your markers upright or on their sides? Thank you for the video. I will fill in my supply.
@KaraLynneCards5 жыл бұрын
I store mine upright and I don't pay attention to which end is up or down. There is a sponge inside the marker that holds the alcohol ink so the position shouldn't matter (from my experience).
@parttimed.m.11113 жыл бұрын
I did contact copic and the response I was given is that position doesn't matter as long as the caps on tight.
@katjanasr7144 жыл бұрын
Okay, I found the whole presentation of your choices of 50. Actually, I'm feeling frustrated because I bought the sketch set A from Amazon (figuring that they would be much less expensive per marker than buying individual markders). But I'm finding that the set doesn't really hold together very well in terms of good blending options. I'm wondering if it's just me that the way the set is put together seems rather random rather than being based on having a good number of optimal blending combos within the 72 set. Anyone have a comment on this?
@KaraLynneCards4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, the colors in the 72 sets seem random. It's like you need to build up the blending families around the ones in the set. They did start selling color blending family sets of three, but they weren't any cheaper than buying them individually.
