The COPO Camaros, Cobra Jet Mustangs, and Drag Pak Challengers are all amazing machines! But they do rely on optimal setup and track conditions to get their best times. The Model S Plaid's AWD and electric drivetrain makes it one of the most reliable and consistent racers out there (plus no trailer needed). Track conditions and R/T still makes a big difference with the Plaid, but far less than most dedicated drag racers. Hopefully, it will get a bit warmer later in December, and you two can race again. I look forward to seeing Greg's Camaro put that prodigious power down. With you in the left lane filming the exciting race!

The tesla plaid is so fast considering that it’s luxurious and has a comfortable ride while being this fast and efficient. But this isn’t even the plaids full potential since it’s limited to the battery. If there was a better battery, it could probably reach 1200 or 1300 hp maxing out the motors, or even better, we could see a quad motor version. Absolutely insane

The fact that it can knock off 9.0 sec 1/4 miles and you drove it to and from with no motor issues and air conditioning and power windows etc is pretty fantastic. Considering that he only has 4 runs on the car really shows the importance of seat time and the lack of knowledge about the car. He has a very long way to go with that car, it should be able to tow the trailer and run 9.0. This is the same class car a guy that bought a Challenger Drag Pack kit car from Dodge and the first runs with the car were 8.2’s and he was nothing but canon fodder in the first round as he was 4+ tenth’s off the rest of the cars. Dodge gave him the base tune and left him to find how to get it to hook up to the track. I would think that Chevy would have done something similar with that COPO.

COPO towing the trailer? Not by a long shot…it overheats even in the staging lanes. Not street legal in any state as you know (no VIN and cannot be registered). It requires expensive high octane race fuel. Surely you were referring to some other vehicle (the Tesla?) towing the trailer. A Model X Plaid would do nicely, while also running 9s (more specifically: 9.7-9.8s)

Another poor showing by a strictly built factory race car that can never be registered as a street car, loosing against a a street car that drove to the track. Unless he plans on racing this car in its proper NHRA class that would require him to make a whole lot more H.P. than what he currently has then I would seriously consider putting some real size sticky rubber on the back of that car to make it hook on a dirt road. But do it in such a way that it doesn’t look too obvious like don’t use deep dish rims that scream out “we got a lotta rubber back here”. Do it like Farm Truck did to hide his 14”-17” wide slicks by using a lot of offset on the rims then he had a mud flap going across the back of the of the truck did a great job of hiding all the traction that the truck really had. Just get creative with hiding the width of the tires that’s all. The Tesla is just incredible and sneaky fast. They really need to make sports car that shortens the car but leave the width, put some huge brakes on it and for the next part they will probably have to go outside the current design teams that they’re using now and make a car that looks like a modern version of the Lotus Turbo Espree. I’m not sure on the spelling but “it had a 4 cylinder turbo engine that made the car quick and went through corners like it was on rails”.

We set the Air Suspension to low and the Sport setting, plus we know that the combination of Traction Control Stability Control does things that no driver can do.
