*Used this rod recently on a river hike in NH. It performed beautifully **enjoyable.fishing** recommend as I had hoped it would, on a whole heap of river smallies using tiny torpedoes and tubes.*

Good video Nick! Being a Yooper myself I love watching all your videos. I recently tied up one of your SW Dipsey rigs and did it pay off!! We got a 26 lbser yesterday morning! We were down in Two Rivers and met Team Black Out at the launch. I'll try and share the pic of the fish we got to you. Keep up the good work on the videos. I'll keep watching.

The shorter leader makes the Dodger & fly react better. Just like on a rigger

Nick, I enjoy your videos. What type of camera are you using when recording your videos? I am building a website and will be adding vids to my KZbin channel, and I appreciate your video quality. Thanks in advance for your help.

What's the advantage's of using a Copper Line set-up for Great Lake's trolling that you can't achieve with lead core, snap weight's, dipsy diver's or down rigger's to desired depth's that you want your bait's to run? If that first 75 foot set-up that you rigged would of roughly got you 20 feet down in the water column using a planner board running a set-up with a snap weight/mono/fluorocarbon or lead core using spoon's would achieve the same depth.

From what I know I don't think that they have many advantages to snap weights other than not having to physically take them off while fighting a fish. All of them are just techniques to get more lines in the water while being away from the motor traffic. All about getting the most amount of rods in the water for many people who fish in tournaments I think.

You would have to go back twice as far with leadcore line to achieve the same depth. Plus the copper line has a different sound going though the water. Some days the fish like wire line baits other days they like the leadcore and so forth. Or maybe they are just really boat shy and want it as far away from the boat as possible. Who really knows??? I know that the copper rods catch a lot of fish for me and my friends so we keep using them.

With this method you don't even need line counters. You just run line out until you reach the mono andes leader wire for the planner correct? Please let me know your input.
@NoFishNicksAdventures5 жыл бұрын
Yes that is correct the reels don't need counters with copper or leadcore set ups
@Phill2tj235 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. How often do you need to replace copper and leadcore?
@NoFishNicksAdventures5 жыл бұрын
The copper line is good to go every year until damaged by kinks and tangles. Leadcore is also really tough and I would not worry about it unless you leave it in the sun for months or it's damaged from tangles? I was worried about the old backing on the reel that was shown in this video.
@ericssunsets74215 жыл бұрын
have you ever had problems with this reel spool disengaging from the handle and drag while under load?
@NoFishNicksAdventures5 жыл бұрын
No but I have had drag issues with the Convectors where the drag is still tight even when the star is loose.

What is the purpose for using cooper line ?
@NoFishNicksAdventures3 ай бұрын
It sinks into the depths. 200 feet of copper will put your lure around 50ft deep at a 2mph troll speed.

Nick how long was the mono for your board ?
@NoFishNicksAdventures5 жыл бұрын
I use about 15 -20 feet for the planer board section.

Is that how you do leadcore too?
@NoFishNicksAdventures4 жыл бұрын
Yes but I use Willis knots for connecting leadcore to the mono lines.
