I'm just sneaking out in a 15' boat on calm days not too far offshore. I run a fish hawk x2 off my single manual rigger, and a wire deep diver on the other side. Then I have a slide diver and a regular dipsy diver for high divers, and my two board rods. I've now accumulated a 10 color, 250 copper, and a 3 color plus a few weights. A lot of options for my 6 rods makes fishing very versatile for me. Love your videos and tips Russ, I wouldn't be where I am at now without you.

Wow , Great presentation Russell, looking forward to hitting the water. What about purchasing a rod combo that's already set up/ dedicated to either planer's or Down rigger's. I've been using walleye rods with heavier line. Very limited success. Recently I got a fish hawk from you, about a month ago. Now I working on getting line and presentations right. I can spend $ . I'm trying to put it in the right equipment this Time. 🎣alot of weekend trips with 1 or 2 fish or skunked altogher.

No they should be in the section of water your targeting. A lot of times I do have one rigger as my deepest rod but not always

What are your thoughts on diawa sealine reels. 47s for downriggers, and dipsy rods. 57s for leadcore?

Old video I know but I wonder if you could suggest what lures to start with on a 6 or 8 rod spread. I run a 2 color, 5 color, a dipsey and a downrigger on each side. Sometimes I run a low diver and high diver if I pull one of the lead cores. Thanks in advance,

Crazy my most productive rod are my down riggers. Ive only caught a handful on my wire dipys and then my second most productive is my 300 copper on planer board. Maybe im doing something wrong on my wire setup?

Do you have to use braid for a pump handle ?

Downriggers suck unless the fish are deeper later in the season. Much more productive with wire divers and 150, 200 coppers and 6-10 leadcores early when fishing 6-9 rods

Thanks for another great video Russell. What size and how many yards of mono backing do you spool onto a 303D reel and how many yards of 50Lb braid for salmon fishing?

The easies way is to take all the line off one of your rigger reels (you were going to put fresh line on it anyway) or an old Penn 209 reel. Then you can reverse load it to get it filled perfectly. Then just reel it back onto the cv30.

I have 200 m of 50lb braid on a clarion with 6 colours of 45 lb leadcore
