@@bw9988 I use 10.5 kg (that is about 22 lbs) propane and have melted 4 times copper, 3 times aluminium and 1 time brass. I think I have still propane left for another aluminium melt 😁 all cunsumptions depend on the metal you want to melt. Copper needs more heat than aluminium, so copper consumes more propane.

This specific model is a great starter forge. It isn't too big, is easy to use, and at higher bars of propane gets hot enough to melt quartz (which I found out the hard way)
@akakscase5 жыл бұрын
Hey! That is the one I got. It is ridiculously hot! By running it a little higher (1.6 bar) I was able to melt and pour over 12 kg of aluminum in a little over 30 mins. I was also able to do my first brass cast (only 400g of brass needed so I only melted 1 kg and poured the rest into a bar) in a little over 10 mins. LOVE this little furnace...

I JUST ordered one, and it WILL BE HERE IN A WEEK!!! I cant wait till it gets here :-) I got the "FB1Sb-4KG GAS METAL MELTING FURNACE" I'm real happy with the price. It was cheaper than some of the others that I was looking at that wasn't the same quality. If you want a great forge, go to the best company. Right now I'm going through all of the vids on how to set it up and operate it properly. I just got a new wire stripper machine (that's manual operated) to strip a BUNCH of wire. I also have a bunch of aluminum that I'm looking forward to melt down. Being a Disabled Vet, I'm always trying to find something that I can do. A few years ago (about 8-10 years) My nephew and I built a coal forge out of an old break drum. We could even melt rebar (lol we left it in too long). We melted down a bunch of aluminum cans and still have the small aluminum muffins that we made. Cornbread muffins do taste better though rofl. I have a 3d printer that I think I can try to make some molds out of, but have never tried. All in all, I'm really looking forward to start making things. PS: what is the best type of crucibles to get? I want to make sure that they will holdup the best. I do know that they will all need to be heat treated before melting metal. Thank-you
