@@bw9988 I use 10.5 kg (that is about 22 lbs) propane and have melted 4 times copper, 3 times aluminium and 1 time brass. I think I have still propane left for another aluminium melt 😁 all cunsumptions depend on the metal you want to melt. Copper needs more heat than aluminium, so copper consumes more propane.

This specific model is a great starter forge. It isn't too big, is easy to use, and at higher bars of propane gets hot enough to melt quartz (which I found out the hard way)
@akakscase
@akakscase 5 жыл бұрын
Hey! That is the one I got. It is ridiculously hot! By running it a little higher (1.6 bar) I was able to melt and pour over 12 kg of aluminum in a little over 30 mins. I was also able to do my first brass cast (only 400g of brass needed so I only melted 1 kg and poured the rest into a bar) in a little over 10 mins. LOVE this little furnace...

I JUST ordered one, and it WILL BE HERE IN A WEEK!!! I cant wait till it gets here :-) I got the "FB1Sb-4KG GAS METAL MELTING FURNACE" I'm real happy with the price. It was cheaper than some of the others that I was looking at that wasn't the same quality. If you want a great forge, go to the best company. Right now I'm going through all of the vids on how to set it up and operate it properly. I just got a new wire stripper machine (that's manual operated) to strip a BUNCH of wire. I also have a bunch of aluminum that I'm looking forward to melt down. Being a Disabled Vet, I'm always trying to find something that I can do. A few years ago (about 8-10 years) My nephew and I built a coal forge out of an old break drum. We could even melt rebar (lol we left it in too long). We melted down a bunch of aluminum cans and still have the small aluminum muffins that we made. Cornbread muffins do taste better though rofl. I have a 3d printer that I think I can try to make some molds out of, but have never tried. All in all, I'm really looking forward to start making things. PS: what is the best type of crucibles to get? I want to make sure that they will holdup the best. I do know that they will all need to be heat treated before melting metal. Thank-you

Depending on the size of the crucible the store bought tongs I find very flimsy. I went to the hardware store and bought extra firebrick (after exploding some of the concrete on my garage floor the first time) a pair of channel locks and some heavy duty fireplace tongs and those work great. I might post a short video on how I run and pour.

Email me on bigstackddddd@mail.com for any questions and I should get back to ya as soon as I can as comments can easily get lost as I receive hundreds a day sometimes. But definitely email me before you make your big furnace purchase And I’ll give you a few more honest opinions on unfortunately I can’t get you a discount as I don’t receive any money from devil Forge and they don’t give me any codes for people to save. But maybe when I get a lot bigger I might hit them up for something like that👍🏻

Cast iron melts at around 1540 C so you must've used a different foundry for that. What model did you use for that? Also, what does your laser thermometer read in? It's not F, C, or kelvin. What is it?

I know you just re-did your shelves recently, bro, but you are going to need even more room. Haha. I like this new forge, 10 mins is FAST. With a faster melt time, you are going to have a house filled to the brim in ingots. Time to start working on crafting up some collectables and stuff, for giveaways or even for sale. I know I would buy something you made and stamped.
