Copper Nymph, Holsinger's Fly Shop, Episode 514

The Copper Nymph is an old school style nymph pattern that Barry Ord Clark shared in an old issue of Fly Tyer Magazine. Barry is an incredible tier and an awesome guy too. I've had the pleasure of tying beside him at show and getting to know him a little. This pattern has a lot of the old school nymph style touches that makes for a great pattern. I'm a euro nympher so for me I would prefer a bead on her to get a little weight but I like to share different styles of ties for you guys. this fly will definitely catch fish for you but more importantly, especially for the beginning tier, it will make you a better tier by learning to tie it. This fly has a lot of simple techniques that make for a great fly.
This is one of those flies that should definitely be tied in different sizes and colors. Don't be afraid to change it up some. See what colors work best for you. Yes it's crazy what you can come up with and then it fools fish. Sometimes I think we give the trout too much credit. 😆
