At 1:37, you said "...there is no attraction, nor repulsion...". Wrong. There is attraction or repulsion, depending whether magnet goes toward copper clad or away. Copper is good conductor and magnet generates eddy current, which in turn produce exactly 'mirrored' magnetic field when magnet approaches the surface of the copper. When magnet going away from the copper, you can feel resistance because then magnetic field 'flip'. Still somewhat 'mirrored', but as a 'negative', or in reverse. When magnet going toward copper, north produces eddy current that produces north pole in copper. When you pull magnet from the surface, north pole produces south pole - which attract or as you said - make a feeling of the resistance. When stationary, no eddy current.

Milan Karakas, Thank you so much for your informative comment. Eddy currents are spectacular. As a boatman, I have used counter-revolving currents to move my boat upstream right alongside the main current flowing in the opposite direction. This is done by employing the counter revolutionary vortexes that run along the edge of the main flow. These forces are often ignored in modern technology. Blessing to you.

LichtTempler, Along the edge of a fast moving stream of water there are a series of counter-rotating whirlpools of water. These little vortexes as they revolve, form a pulling force opposite to the main flow of the river. The phenomenon happens when the side of the stern of the boat is kept against the edge of the main stream. It will propel the canoe, for example, in the opposite direction of the main flow.

E=MC2 is a joke! OK let's get this correct !! #1 The only reason radio waves and AC current travel out in space and down a wire is because of the "CENTER " of a magnetic field. (The "B" field), The North and South poles are the weakest part of a magnet !! Just like Tesla said, you got to look at things you can't see !! At the center of a magnet is anti gravity, (just tap the center on any glass or plastic and it will loose weight), The center can repel water if vibrated at the correct frequency, If you vibrate the "B" field into granite rock it will become soft and you would need copper tools to work on same , you don't want to disrupt the magnetic (B")field ) with other iron. Once you understand the "B" field of a magnet and how it relates to the entire universe we live in, you will then understand what Tesla was telling everyone "LOOK FOR WHAT YOU CANNOT SEE"" .I believe the pyramids were inter galactic communications and transportation systems. Stone Henge and Gobekli Tepe , power plants. Take a look at Coral Castle Florida on KZbin and you will see a similar pilar. I believe these horizontal pillars were oscillators that would provide excitation for many things from crops in the field to anti gravity FYI: If a UFO fly's to close to you the "B" field that provides the anti gravity ("B")Field). will cancel out your power source !!!! E=MC2 is at best just a joke!!!

@Connor Winn Magnets on this planet are just sympathetic magnets of the earth's double torus magnetosphere. We live in an electric universe powered by and held in position between the double torus's of galaxy, sun, planets magnetosphere. Precious metals are magnetic ISOLATORS of the double torus magnetosphere. Earth's magnetosphere is powered by the Sun's magnetosphere which in turn is powered regulated by it's position relative the galaxies Bulge & nucleus. The GALACTIC Milankovitch cycles cause our cliamte trends and cataclysms. Eccentricity being the 235,000 year rotation of the galactic bulge. Antikythera device was a predictor. We are at year 201,000. Obliquity is the climate trends between aphelion and perihelion with the galactic bulge. every 60,000 years we are 34,000 years away from perihelion with the galactic bulge. 26,000 year Precession of the equinoxes or Magnetic north, eclipsing the nucleus of the galaxies magnetosphere causes an exponential rise in magnetic/gravitational energy for the 1,000 years it takes to eclipse the galactic plane equator. We started crossing in 2012 like the Mayans predicted and magnetic north shows. We are at 24 degrees west declination increasing towards the centre of the double torus in 500 years. when it will switch to 24.5 degrees East delineation decreasing for 6,000 years. Jesus warned us about these the climate change END TIMES with the book of REVELATION & the cause with the 7 north stars of the PRECESSION of the Alpha Omega equinoxes he held in his hand. These are just the birthing pains. Mother Earth's WATER won't break until the 2033 conjunction of Mercury-Venus-Earth causes the MOON to pull the earth's increased magnetosphere & oceans out and around the planet east to west 800 mph at the equator as in the days of Noah. We are not Gods. We are not causing the Sun's magnetosphere energy output to increase. The PRECESSION of the vernal autumnal equinoxes is. Jesus unites us & warned us all.

As other people have said, this also works with aluminum. I have seen magnetic brakes used on a land speed record car that had aluminum wheels, not meant to slow the car from top speed, but to slow it down once the parachutes have been used. It was very ingenious. They had a ring of neodymium magnets on a hydraulically controlled plate.

The phenomenon is present for any conductor, but the effect is reduced as the conductor chosen is less and less conductive. A silver plate would work better than a copper plate, which works better than aluminum, which works better than zinc, which is better than titanium, etc.

made one years ago for a small engine dyno. few design flaws but it did work. up to about 20hp, any more and i couldnt get the heat away. some brassy unknown material disc from the scrapyard, bunch of neo magnets recessed into very shallow pockets in a steel plate from the back of a speaker, reaction arm on a set of scales, and a lead screw to adjust the magnet gap. the disc spun, coupled to the crank. have to complete the circuit at the back of the magnets. gives a nice focused field out the front where its needed. most people tend to miss that point... obviously deep pockets just short each magnet out to itself :D the disc gets HOT. real freaking hot. every watt of power the dyno is registering is dissipating as heat. could easily stall a 20hp, with power to spare, but the disc was smoking, starting to glow, despite the water spray... design flaws : ) and neos fail rapidly at 70C+. lol. ferrite will take 150C or so, and alnico will tolerate redhot, but is a bit pathetic... and expensive... i brushed the dust off it lately, revisiting the idea. it promises a certain advantage over any thing else in the application of certain "renewables"... get carried away with this idea of "electrons" and forget that they need something to pump them, just like hydraulic fluid in a bottle is basically useless but will give you gangrene at 20,000psi from a leak, or move a large rock in an excavator bucket... and whilst hydraulic fluid happily sits in a bottle, electrons tend to dislike each other and refuse to congregate in large numbers unless beaten with a large stick... this is hands down one of the best videos but he did miss the bit with the coil, open circuit, shorted, LED... a decade resistance box would have shown something even more interesting, along with some maths relating to the mass of the magnet and gravity... EFFICIENCY. or, load matching, and how it relates to efficiency. where is the work done, how does it relate to the mass of copper versus the magnet strength, its mass, teh resistance of the copper wire as its wound, blah blah... where is the work done in a generator, where is the load, and what are their limitations?

Older, pre-electronic coin sorters used magnets to slow down 'slugs', steel fake coins. Coins rolled down a short ramp, magnets on either side. Eddy-current drag slowed down slugs, regular coins went through at full speed. At the end of the ramp was a little jump; fast coins jumped a gap, slow coins fell into the gap. They had trouble with Canadian coins, their nickle content made them somewhat magnetic and they jammed the ramp.

i was just thinking about this video, and i think its possible to polish the surface of steel using magnetic breaking. the traveling fair where i live has a ride that takes you up about 100 feet on a tower and drops you. The way the ride stops is electromagnetic breaks that fit around metal fins. from what i remember, there were 4 metal fins that were at least a foot long and probably 8 inches wide. likely, they were bigger as they were far up on the ride. the part of the ride with the seats that falls rides on a square piece of scaffold with wheels to keep it aligned, and it has 8 electro magnets, one for each side of the fin. the fins are attached to the outter framework of the ride, so force applied to the fins sits on cement pads placed on the ground. the failsafe is a massive pile of recycled tires under the seats. if the magnetic breaking fails, you literally just land on a huge pile of rubber. The interesting thing to me is that the fins were POLISHED. They stood out as extremely polished to a perfect mirror finish, and the polished part of the fins was only where the breaks run over them. It has always made me wonder if some kind of surface stripping happens when you are breaking such a massive load over a fairly short distance. also it freaked me out that the ride didn't use permanent magnets and only have a pile of tires as a failsafe.

I was an MRI Field Engineer before I retired and we often had fun with the Lenz effect. When MRI's were quite rare, there was always a drawer full of 1" steel washers on bits of string, so that visitors could 'see' the strength of the magnet. We soon got fed up with having to partially dismantle the brutes to get these out when, inevitably, some muppet dropped their washer and it vanished into the bore. We found a spectacular way of demonstrating the strength of the field, safely, by use of aluminium plates, about a foot long, eight inches wide and as thick as we could find - usually about 4mm. (Sorry to mix standards, but that is perfectly logical to me!) When the user had a bunch of students or sometimes newbie doctors and we were on the premises, they would always ask us to "...do the trick..." Having first demonstrated that aluminium is not magnetic in any way, you place the plate upright on its short dimension, on the end of the patient table furthest from the bore of the magnet. Then you ask them what would happen if I let go. They all look round, because it's a trick question, right? It''l fall over. Of course, as soon as you let go, it falls over and they all look relieved. Then you move the plate as close as you can to the mouth of the bore (disguising the fact that you can feel the Lenz effect working against you.) The you ask, what will happen now, given that it is non magnetic? They look at each other again, this time not so sure, but 99 times out of a hundred they've never heard of the Lenz effect and 'shorted turns'. When you let go and it barely moves (sometimes you have to give it a bit of a shove to get it moving) they are astonished and mystified in equal measure. It falls very, very slowly, although it does accelerate slightly. It's a great trick and a whole lot more spectacular ( and safer) than the old steel washers!

I am a ride tech, at a well-known theme park. Our coaster cars utilize a large copper plate, for braking. As the plate (on the bottom of the car) moves through magnets (positioned on the track), the train slows down. The plates gets pretty hot, by the end of the operational day. Honestly, I never thought about measuring the temperature. I figure it’s around 130 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit. It takes a couple of hours, for the plates, to cool down completely.
@pedrova8058
@pedrova8058 2 жыл бұрын
thats why some HiFi/PA speakers have copper pole pieces. iin use, the internal coil creates eddy currents, so a cooper piece attenuates that current ,to keep linear response (but make some heat, so the back of the magnetic core has an opening for ventilation)
@jakemccoy
@jakemccoy 2 жыл бұрын
I wonder if somebody has found a way to harness that heat and use the energy.
@CJ-442
@CJ-442 2 жыл бұрын
@@jakemccoy Probably not. I know that 140 F sounds hot, but as far as using it to generate electricity, it’s nowhere near hot enough, even boilers just used for heating generate heat in 300-500 F range. Best you might be able to do, would be to use the heat to warm a few rooms in the winter(even then, those room would have to be close by). But then you’d have to go to the trouble of installing some sort of heat transfer system and a backup system for when those plates aren’t enough or aren’t in use. It’s a lot of money and upkeep for a marginal improvement in efficiency.
@jakemccoy
@jakemccoy 2 жыл бұрын
@@CJ-442 I was not thinking that extravagant. I was thinking more simple, like maybe light up some LED's on the coaster with the otherwise wasted energy.
@CJ-442
@CJ-442 2 жыл бұрын
@@jakemccoy If you’re goal is to reduce heating on those copper plates, then the answer is no. Magnetic breaking works by converting the kinetic energy of the moving magnet into eddy currents within a conductor, which is then converted to heat. Connecting a “load” (like those LEDs) to the plates would create a complete circuit and greatly reduce the eddy currents in the plate, and therefore, its breaking power as well. You saw that in the video when he dropped that magnet through the coil with the light connected. It generated electricity, but the magnet barely slowed down at all. That’s why I suggested using the heat transfer system to heat a room. That heat has to be generated for the breaks to work, so you may as well try to use that heat for something useful. If you’re asking if it’s possible to use the coaster’s movement over those plate to generate useable electricity, then the answer is maybe. It’s not impossible to do, but you’d basically have to design a coaster with having that dual breaking/electrical generation purpose in mind. You’d need some sort of system installed to ensure that only a little bit of the electricity was taken from the eddy currents; that way the breaks still work. Also, anything that you’d hook up to this system (LEDs, speakers, etc.) would only work while the coaster was moving over the plates. When it’s anywhere else or completely stopped, electricity stops being generated and the “load” is no longer powered. Again, a lot of work, money, and upkeep for a marginal improvement in efficiency. Not hounding on you or saying it’s wrong to try to come up with new ideas. I just deal with electrical systems a lot in my line of work, and these are the things that I have to think about. Introducing changes or new purposes into a system also introduces the possibility for new problems, so you have to take those problems into account. Is it worth having one system that does 2 things if it only works 75% the time? Or is it better to have 2 systems that do 1 thing each and they both function 99.9999% of the time? The answer is that it just depends on what you’re doing. Using waste heat generated by flushing the toilets to warm a maintenance shed in the winter is a lot less important than having breaks that function properly.

We live in a 100% magnetic universe..... it's that simple!! The center of a magnet is by far the most powerful part!!! that's where you will find anti gravity and most everything else. STUPID HUMANS!! We went backwards in the Iron age!! the center of a magnet is where we belong after all that's what we are all configured with..FACT! Please review the works at "CORAL CASTLE, Florida. (KZbin), He would "VIBRATE" ,, not oscillate the granite at a resonant frequency to the type stone he was working with. Granit has allot of magnetic properties given it's make up... You just need to vibrate at the correct freq. and it will become workable. Keep in mind we are talking about vibrating only the "B" field of a magnet into the rock!!! You will note at Coral Castle he also had a horizontal stone , similar to Stone Henge... All his magnetic generators were in the repel mode to maximize the "B" field.. SIMILAR TO THOSE Shown ON THE PYRAMIDS OF EGYPT.. FACT!!, THINK about it THAT'S exactly why they used copper tools!!!! You must use copper tools and any iron would totally dispute the field. Quantum Math is total B.S. E=MC2 is also total BS... E=MD. (Magnetic density). Thanks Vincenzo.. Please use your brain!! If your professor gives you any flack, have him explain the speed of magnetism. It's instantaneous. That's how they used the pyramids as transportation devices, inter Galaxy type transportation that's exactly why they were 8 sides to create a perfect hologram from earths magnetic field that could be used to connect interglacially

Laser levels use this to dampen unwanted vibrations. A copper disk is mounted at the bottom of a pendulum that is free to pivot. A magnet is mounted below the copper disk and causes the laser to self level rapidly and be resistant to small vibrations applied to the mount. In this application the magnet is stationary to avoid magnetic fields including that of the earth from effecting the accuracy of the laser level. Without the magnet, the laser would eventually self level, but would be too sensitive to vibrations to be useful in most construction environments.

In Korea we have a ride called the Gyrodrop. People ride along the outer rim of a huge ring that gets elevated to a height of 70 meters. Then the ring drops, and when it gets close to the bottom, the phenomenon explained in this video brakes it to a halt. I've heard that it relies purely on magnets and no electricity, so people will be safe even if there's a sudden power outage during the ride.

Haha! But still, I won't be riding on that shlit! Mother Nature could step in, throw you an earthquake that could shift-fly-throw-toss the magnetic base all the way over to the Cotton Candy booth. Then what, Mr. Pancake said.

@@designertjp-utube Yeah well we rarely have earthquakes here and they stop the ride altogether when the wind blows over 7m/s (15mph). Though the last part means I have a damn hard time trying to ride this thing everytime I go to the amusement park :P

@@designertjp-utube you worry about nothing. You could be walking alongside the road when an earthquake hits, fall, bang your head then dead. You let your life be dictated by a remote possibility. Sad life.

@boson96 I'm not going to google it but I am pretty sure in this case it is South. South Korea.

This is great! I'm finally starting to understand how electricity is really made! I used to be told it was just steam running a turbine. I could never understand how it gets into our wires. Now I see there is an electromagnetic field that is stimulated by interaction of magnets and electrons

steam through a turbine hehe oh.. you gotta love it ok, firstly it's not MADE, it's GENERATED which is why things that make electricity are called GENERATORS Secondly .. Electricity is just merely the movement of electrons through a conductor. or in other explanations a Copper Atom has electrons, and a certain number of electrons occupy each electron shell. we are just concerned with the outer shell this shell is called the VALENCE SHELL and the 1 electron in the outer shell is called the VALENCE ELECTRON Copper has 1 Atom in it's valence shell and as such it would rather it LOSES an electron (That's how atoms work) simply stated, an INSULATOR is an atom that would rather NOT LOSE it's electrons a CONDUCTOR is an atom that would prefer to lose an electron or electrons MAKE SENSE ? so it's not important to understand the magnetic part of it . Electrons have an electromagnetic field, REMEMBER THIS now. when you line up (for arguments sake) one copper atom next to another and another and so on and they are all a certain distance from each other, but not too far either BETWEEN THE ATOMS.... you get a force basically think of it as the South pole ofa magnet trying to come close to the south pole of another magnet so.... ELECTRONS ARE NEGATIVELY CHARGED and hence Negative repels Negative... right ? so.. when an electron gets close to another electron... THEY REPEL the FORCE that causes this repulsion is called EMF Electro Motive Force now... remember that line of electrons now..... IF YOU WERE TO PUSH 1 MORE ELECTRON INTO THE CIRCUIT HERE IS WHAT WOULD HAPPEN THAT FIRST ELECTRON , VIA EMF, CAUSES THE ELECTRON NEXT TO IT TO JUMP TO THE NEXT COPPER ATOM. and that..... CAUSES THE ELECTRON IN THAT SHELL TO JUMP TO THE NEXT ATOM AND SO ON AND SO ON AND VOILA....... ELECTRICITY FLOWS and where does that first electron come from ? well.... A Generator, a Battery, some external power source does that help you understand electricity and how it's generated ?

I enjoyed the video, I love learning! I am amazed. I have too many ideas to utilize the newly understood properties you displayed. And here I kept saying pennies are worthless lol
