Finally, we started our last big project for the winter, Coppercoat anti-fouling. We are grateful to have friends come and help as Richard is still restricted with his movements so soon after his emergency surgery.
Winter is coming to an end and we have our final marina BBQ as we say goodbye to friends departing and little furry ones that are staying. Hopefully, we will see them all next winter.
We replace our cutlass bearing and then we are finally back in the water, ready for the season ahead.

It was one hell of a job and thank you to your friends from within the boating community. I'm confident this will pay off in the end. It's a shame the factory didn't include it. It'll be intriguing to observe the hull's condition over the next year. By the way, I didn't notice any coating like Prop-Speed on the prop, p-bracket, or shaft? I am pretty sure the hoist tyres could use just a littttttttle more air. 😂 Anyway, well done, great job by all!

Yes, a big thank you to marina community. I couldn't get prop-speed before going to Tunisia so that will be a regular cleaning job for me until the next haul out. Haha I was wondering if anyone would notice the state of the tires. I was more concerned about the tread that was coming off. If one of them had popped when we were so close to the ground we would have had problems.

Hi, great episode, thank you for producing these informative videos. We are going to winter in Hammamet, no room at Monastir! Did you import the coppercoat or buy it elsewhere? We have coppercoat on our boat but want to raise the waterline (too many beans on board!). We would like to do that this winter. Thanks again! James

Hi James, we got the Coppercoat from the UK agent when we were in Malta. It took just over 24 hrs to be delivered to us. Great service. You will need to get most things before going to Tunisia as they just don't have much there for recreational vessels.

That was a big job. I was wondering how you were going to get the bits treated where the supports were. Living on top of a ladder for 4 weeks would not have been fun, but good physiotherapy for the patient🙂. Safe and happy onward travels.

Thank you. I think the hardest part was not being able to clean the boat and watch it get more and more brown from the sand.

Bien, hicisteis bien en elegir Tunez para pasar el invierno. Cuanto os habría costado lo mismo un cualquier lugar del "primer mundo?"... y creeis que habríais sido mejor atendidos? Enhorabuena

I have a new boat coming out the factory in france. Fortunately I was able to get coppercoat on at the factory so dont have to go through the ablative strip and the extra expense. Was it not available when you bought it?

Wish I had known about Coppercoat when I we had the boat commissioned. It wasn't offered to us as a option. It certaily has been an upfrount expense but should be worth it in the long run. I bet you are getting excited about the new boat

Hi … I have a Sun Odyssey 440 like yours which is finishing its charter service in one year from now. I see that you did a lot of upgrades … hard rail on the back, solar arch, etc …. Where did you do these works? Can you advise a yard? I will need to turn mine from charter costal sailing to live-aboard offshore worthy vessel …

Hi, we got the stainless steel arch built in Monastir. Have a look at our previous episodes and you will see a one on the arch, batteries etc. I did all of the electrical work myself.
