Overgrown SWAMP With RATS & TRASH Mowed For Free (Neighbor Complained, Ventrac 4520 Answered)

I have no clue why the city didn't make the homeowner cut it before now, I guarantee it has looked like this since last summer (In my part of Florida not much grows November-March, so I think this stuff HAD to all be here before the fall of 2021).
A local neighbor posted on Nextdoor that the state of a vacant lot on their road was contributing to trash dumping and was an overall eye-sore. I touched base with them to get their address and drove out to take a look. Nothing the Ventrac couldn't handle so I offered to do it for free so I could get some experience with the ‪@ventrac‬ as well as make a video for you
I operated the Ventrac in high range for most of the job until I got in the back corner with those real thick marshy grass clumps (no clue what they are). After the first one slowed the engine down I switched to low mode and didn't have much trouble with anything after that.

It’s surprising what I have caught myself with. People need to just do a little more. If they find someone is taking advantage of that effort you put forth, go to a higher authority if necessary.

We live in a residential neighborhood... my husband & I have found so many things next to the street in front of our house. Not just cigarette butts, but toys, clothing, ceramic bowls with the spoon still in it, paper, plastic, food, etc. Incredible, really.

Amazing machine. A few years ago I lived on 7.5 acres and cut it with a Zero turn, but it would get stuck in wet mud quite a bit. Now am retired lived on a postage stamp lot and miss my lawn mower. Enjoyed the video.

Brad, I think having this VEN-TRAC is the smartest investment you could've made! Especially in Florida! I was waiting for you to come across an alligator or a python, with as many rats that were there. Major food source for both types of predators. Take extra precautions when setting up your camera equipment in places like this!

Ventrac's are awesome. I did snown removal with them for years. Excellent machine and well built. We put them thru everything when doing snow removal. I also did some mowing with it , it was such a great versatile machine. I would recommend them to anyone.

Great job, Brad! It looked a lot better once you picked up the trash. That was too easy for the Ventrac. I was hoping to see you wander into the tall thick brush around the perimeter of that field. Next video maybe? You made that look easy. Love the drone shots. I’ve been wanting a drone to capture my Ventrac jobs. Especially since it’s pretty hard to follow the Ventrac through the tall stuff unless you move your camera 75 times...which is what I have to do lol. Can’t wait to see the next video! 👍

Been cutting with a Ventrac for over a decade. 8 years on the current machine a 4200 VXD turbo diesel and you can cut near anything with them from 30 degree slopes to swampy lowlands. I have cut it all.

That is one great machine. Tractor Time with Tim probably has done over 20 videos with one of these. He has a number of attachments. Mowing is impressive, but it will till and level a yard, then seed it. And who cares about your pattern…… the complainers need to stop ever few minutes and move a tri-pod around their yard as they mow.

I have a John Deere 2032R and I use it to cut an overgrown horse pasture for my father-in-law every few months. I noticed my neighbor's field was overgrown too, so I was going to cut it for them. I made one pass and he came driving up, being very rude and telling me to stop. His reasoning was that if I cut the field, their house would be over ran with rats. Nevermind that I lived in a mobile home next to that same field for 5 years while we built our house and never had rat problem after bush-hogging. The reason is that after I cut the grass down, the hawks and owls have a field day because the rats don't have enough cover. I have seen 3 hawks at once hunting at the same time. That field that I didn't cut is now covered in thick undergrowth and small tress and there is no way I would put my brush cutter in that crap. I guess they will have to figure it out now. Glad your people had better sense and let you clear the lot.

The plant that the ventrac bogged down while cutting is called rush or rushes in Ireland. They thrive in waterlogged clay based soils. They have a very dense base or "butt" that can be hard work to cut. The closer to the ground the more dense and tough it is. Flail mowers are generally good for them. In the past finger bar mowers where used for keeping them in check.
