Copperfield - You are the light

Copperfield was formed in Britain but came to South Africa in 1974 on contract to play at a hotel in Durban, and subsequently settled. The original band members were:
1. Terry Meredith - lead guitar
2. Peter Taylor - lead vocals
3. Chris Moore - drums
4. Peter Ball - bass
5. Dave Dale - rhythm guitar
6. Richard Bailey - keyboards
In 1975 they were offered a contract by Hub Music in Durban and subsequently released the album “Copperfield” and the 7” single “Rock ‘n Roll Singer”. The latter reached #19 on the South African Top 20, charting for 2 weeks. They had their greatest success with the 1978 album “So You Win Again” with the title track being released as a 7” single. It peaked at #2 on the Top 20, charting for 18 weeks.
In 1980 Chris Moore and Peter Ball left the band and were replaced by Bruce Bark (guitar and vocals, formerly with "The Zombies") and Gerry van Wyk (bass), and in 1984 Peter Taylor and Terry Meredith left to form “High Level”. I’m not sure what happened to the band after this, but I suspect that they then disbanded. Richard Bailey became a member of the British heavy metal band Magnum in later years, and I heard that Peter Taylor died in the UK in 2014, but I have no idea what happened to the other members.
This song was released on 7" single in 1978 as the B-side to "You Make Me Know That You Belong".
