Here in Australia a cop tased a 95 year old women with dementia at a nursing home who was shuffling towards him on her walking frame while holding a knife. She fell and hit her head and subsequently died. Policeman Kristian White has been charged with manslaughter and is due to appear in court next month.
@investigator772 ай бұрын
they could have disarmed her with a blanket for God's sake! Thrown one over her from behind, and grabbed her around her body. These cops are SO afraid of an 87 year old woman, who can barely walk, they had to tase her in the chest! They're lucky they didn't kill her. I hate the way they keep saying this lady was approaching them with a knife. She was picking dandelions, so I'm sure it was just a little paring knife, not a big butcher knife like they try to make it sound.

@victorlangrehr75052 ай бұрын
@@jackshafto9123 I agree that not assimilating is a huge problem and is the responsibility of those who moved to learn the laws, customs and language of their destination. For example I think would be unreasonable for an native born American that only fluent in English to immigrate to Paris and expect the French people to learn English instead of the immigrant learning French. So if I knew I didn't even speak the language I would try and carry a method of translation, a phone number to call to a translator (not the police responsibility).In this case I don't think the officer's safety was ever at risk. I wish we could see the beginning of the interaction. If the police are not meant to protect and serve both the kids and the elderly then why do they exist? I wish they would have video of her and the officer just observing. If the video does exist but just not available (thinking about active court case) then we all just have to wait. But if the officer's didn't record it, I'm in favor of making a law change to charge the officer with willful not collecting evidence (destruction). Sorry for the long reply this video just makes me so angry. As the only way for this case to have been handled worse by the officers would have been if they shot her instead of tasing her.

I worked with an elderly Cambodian woman we all called Grandma. She reminded me of my own Grandma who came here in 1921 from Ukraine. We worked in an industrial park that had planted crab apple trees as landscaping all over. "We" see them as pretty, she sees them as a foraged food source and asked me to go with her to pick some so she wouldn't get in trouble (I did). We actually attracted park security who thought it was "strange" to be picking useless crab apples but left us alone after I explained the situation. All this woman saw was a source of food and I feel that the police went too far in tasing her. This is first world stupidity where everyone thinks the only place food comes from is the grocery store.

I’m Cambodian, my mom used to pick crab apples each year to pickle and eat them. Can’t imagine getting tased/shot doing such an innocent thing and not being able to speak the language

This just shows the inability for these officers to think outside the box. The fact that one of them is also the Chief is particularly worrying.

I get so infuriated at some of these officers. Some are stupid. Some are too stupid to live unsupervised. Inhumane complete and utter morons. A calm person digging up dandilions attacked and tased. Those cops should probably be put in a home for everyones safety.

They turned down a friend of mine despite the fact he passed the exam. Probably a blessing in disguise because there has been scandal after scandal with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (even back then). No way anyone in their right mind would want to be caught up in that mess.
