Anything less and you get charged with a crime for defending yourself. All this while scared out of your mind you're about to die. But cops who are supposed to be the highly trained ones and therefore the only ones who should even carry guns in the minds of many get to make a ton of mistakes, shoot the wrong person or fill a neighborhood full of holes from all the misses and they get a pass 9/10 times. I was going to work and not breaking ANY laws. The cop pulled me over, handcuffed me and put me in the back of his car while he searched my vehicle. The reason he gave me after the stop was that my windshield was cracked. The crack wasn't even visible from the outside unless you got on my hood. He let me go but tried to ask me a bunch of questions which I wasn't about to answer after he already did me like that. I know for a fact that this stop would have been worse if I wasn't white. The only problem with that is when you sue a police department or city/county/state and win the case then you are going to receive money that came from the hardworking taxpayers of that city, county, or state…not from the individual police officers that fucked up. So the laws must change in a way that police department’s city, county, or state need to hold the actual officers accountable for their screw-ups by docking their pay, demoting them, and taking the lawsuit money out of their own pensions. Then, and only then, they will learn that there are consequences for their actions.

The problem is, it's his word against theirs. Unless you have a video, or some kind of concrete proof, it doesn't matter what's said. So even though the officers admit to wrong doing, there's no proof of it. So it's a little like it never happened. Nothing says the body cam is turned on. It's not running all the time, only when they turn it on. If they're just looking to cause you grief, they probably won't bother turning it on, since they have no intentions of actually arresting you. Just harassing you, and threatening you with an arrest. It's a classic case of bullies with badges. It's disgusting, and we need a better way to ensure it never happens.

@Cody Teague yes!! I’ve been in and out of jail and prison tons of times. And my dads a cop and on SWET. The difference in the demeanor of the cop before and after they learn my dads a cop is astonishing. I almost probably wouldn’t believe it if it wasn’t happening to me. I don’t get in trouble anymore. I put all that bs behind me. But just last week my gas gauge in my car started messing up. I ended up running out of gas on hwy. cops pretty much immediately pull up. The cop refused to give me a ride and I couldn’t walk to the gas station because i had my dog and I didn’t have the proper harness to walk her on the highway. So he asked me if I can pay a tow truck to bring me gas and I said yes. But it was Friday evening and after waiting for over an hour in my hot car, because the police made me roll my windows almost completely up because my dog was growling at him, I get out and ask him if he can just call my dad, because my phone was dead, and just see if my dad could bring me gas instead of waiting for this tow truck. So he called my dad and my dad couldn’t bring me gas because he was at work over an hour away, but this cop found out while on the phone with my dad that he’s a cop, and as soon as they hung up he changed his mind and said he could give me a ride to the gas station. He didn’t even like try to disguise it that maybe he was just getting sick of waiting for the tow truck. It was very obvious that he only changed his mind after learning my dad was a cop that is so weird to me. Pathetic is a better word.

Attorneys and judges are part of the problem too. It's all a scam perpetrated on the American citizens. And a useful tool. The politicians are the ones who make the laws and therefore are untouchable, the cops (that term I use for them all, feds or local, Does Not matter, ALL THE SAME) ENFORCE these Unconstitutional laws with EXTREME PREJUDICE, the attorneys are there to skim more money off the victims, and the judges are there to make sure you pay as much as possible and take ever more rights from the American people in the CORPORATION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. I studied Criminal Justice back in the late 90's with the intention of obtaining A.S. degree then going on to police academy. My desire was to serve my community and genuinely help people. Unfortunately, I learned that as an officer, you are required to go along with your fellow officers in spite of what wrongs they may commit. If you deviate, you will be targeted and cast out of the "blue brotherhood." When there is a dangerous situation, you will not be able to trust your colleagues to have your back. More and more. I realized I was not going to be able to fulfill my career goals in this profession. I witnessed cops talking about committing brutality out of frustration, during a ride-along. As I had feared, they all just laughed about it and not one officer dissented. Lastly, I had my own traumatizing experience with cops abusing their authority. It broke my heart. Cops are just gangs with badges and legal guns. There are, of course some very good officers. However, the bad ones cause way too much damage to balance the system. It all begins in the academy, the mindset. That is the place CHANGE NEEDS TO BEGIN.

My younger brother worked for the Spartanburg Sheriffs Office in South Carolina as a patrol deputy for three years back in the 1990's. During the short few years that he was there he witnessed dozens of Constitutional and ethics violations by deputies as well as outright criminal behavior. Furthermore, he was written up for hitting a mailbox that had leaned out into the road with his passenger side mirror while on a pursuit. This happened a day after a shady deputy rolled a Crown Vic while speeding and not on a call; and received no negative consequences for it. This was the last straw as far as my brother was concerned. He resigned from the department and went to OCS for the Marine Corps where he is currently an O-5. One of his friends ran against the former sheriff because of the toxic work environment and is currently still the sheriff. The best thing that has happened to SCSO in the last forty years is Chuck Wilson's election to office.

Driving along obeying all laws I got pulled over and held for an hour (total time). He searched my truck, but I didn't have anything in it. The cop said there was a late model truck involved in a hit and run. I told him him that's rust not blood on my fender. I damaged it a year ago. Look at it. Nope he held me for another 20 or 30 minutes. Finally a sargent arrived. Talked to the cop. Then he looked at my truck, walked back to the cop to get my license and papers and told me I could go. When they decide to stop you they stop you. They'll make up a reason for the report later.

The pay/pension/benefits etc. that police and other government employees get is EXACTLY 100% the OPPOSITE of capitalism!
