What’s wondrous about this score is the compassion and sadness it expresses for all the characters. Particularly all those wasted lives. And the use of Fauré’s “In Paradisum” in one scene was masterfully in the same vein.

25 years ago in October Time we had a sequel while we still have Holly, Sigourney and Harry! There’s been plenty of serial killers that weren’t featured during the movie or since it was made.

Like the film, this music draws you in with a perfect balance of sadness and fear; you feel feel sad for the serial killers in a way here, because they're damaged souls, then you also fear what they're capable of. The sadness experienced by Dr Hudson knowing that she is trapped in this position of knowledge and torment, and eventually she has to face her fears to defeat the serial killer.

The music clearly tells the viewer what about the movie is: sad, despair and complex personnalities, unable to get out of their own problems... And even at the end, you're not sure they managed to... Young is amongts the masters in expressong feelings through his music. This one and Entrapment ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/inu1c4eshJZ9fqc ) are beautiful examples of his talent in writing melancholic melodies... Thanks for listening

Notice the impression on Peter Foley's face when he is shot in the arm and when Dr. Hudson insults him and spits him in the face. He gets furious. That's what sets him off. He's been keeping these emotions inside him perhaps since childhood and projects them onto other people. Years of humiliation and negligence are the roots of his hate and anger toward people, particularly young women.
