@Wunknown Beatbox Bruv you have NO IDEA how much pleasure I felt on seeing this upload. After hearing about you going on a ‘hiatus’ of sorts, I felt dejected as I’m a huge fan. I live in India, so I’ve only ever relied on whatever media involving you exists online, as meeting you in person is financially out of my reach at the moment. So THANK YOU FOR THIS pleasant surprise!! Moreover, I know it’s none of my business, but I do pray whatever altercation struck up between you and Chelsea (Hershe, sorry if I misspelt her name), gets resolved and the tensions subside. Another thing I’d like to add is that I’ve noticed a sort of correlation between physical fitness and beatboxing performance, as observed by your getting buff all of a sudden. Maybe you could resume gymming or working out once more, as a means of letting out stress and improving your performance. I mean, you’re already a pioneer in your art form, and can also physically rip me to shreds, but still I thought I’d put it out there as a suggestion. Anyway, I’m just rambling at this point...forgive me. I’d just like you to continue what you do best, and serve as a reminder that you have fans in all corners of the world. :) Shalom

Why does colaps’ vocalized chest bass sound different than your’s? It sounds not as gravelly as napom’s, which you had previously told me was because of him not using a 50/50 ratio of the “tight mr bean voice” and the chest bass/Darth vader voice. But it doesn’t sound like that’s the case for colaps. And yet it still sounds like something’s missing from his that makes it sound not as “liquid-y” or subwoofer-y as yours. Any thoughts?
@wunknownbeatbox79804 жыл бұрын
It's because he just hasn't practiced it enough to get it as low as mine. I've said this before, any sound you want to get lower, you just need to loosen the muscle. But you can only do that with enough practice where your body allows it. You can't just "change this one thing" and now it works! Your body will allow you to loosen any sound you want to get it lower, but you have to tell your body you want to by practicing it. Not sure if this is the exact case. I really don't hear too many people with a chest bass as low as mine so maybe it's genetic/vocals. I couldn't tell you 100% but I also use vocal shaping techniques like reeps one to distort the way it sounds. Like how Reeps pronounces "row, rew" when he does his throat bass sometimes.
@alkmibeats21334 жыл бұрын
Wunknown Beatbox yes, “vocal shaping” I love that term to describe the way beatboxers like you or reeps one change the oral cavity’s resonance capabilities to give different textures to your basses, like your “Ahoooo” effect for your vocalized chest bass to get that reverb type effect (which sounds inhuman af in my opinion👏🔥) but i see what you mean and I think I ageee with you too. It’s all about looseness and fighting the body’s natural instincts to tighten up when using the vocals or the airway in any kind of new way to establish a new muscle memory. Thank you for your insights and responses bro, always helps me level up as a new beatboxer. Two more quick questions, one, Ik I already asked you this a while back on slizzer’s and kenôzen’s vocalized chest bass and you said you didn’t really know why they sounded different than your’s or big ben’s for example (I’ll call it the “sub-woofer” kind for lack of a better term). I think I know why slizzer’s sounds more “midrange” the way it does. I believe that he’s not just doing vocalized chest bass, he’s doing vocalized chest bass+throat bass. Because the quality and texture of his sound sounds more “gritty” and as if there’s another layer than just the voice (true vocal folds) and the chest bass (caused by the epiglottis, I can verify this, I’ve seen footage of an endoscopy of a beatboxer’s throat while performing chest bass, and the doctor confirming what part causes unvocalized chest bass), I think that that additional “rattley” layer is the throat bass in synchronization with the chest bass (throat bass, by contrast, is caused by the arrytenoid cartilage and false vocal chords phonating in tandem with the true vocals). I think his is a combination of chest and throat bass which also is in line with his description of his bass in an interview “breaking down the beat” with him. He says his bass is a special, “high-pressure” throat bass, and while i, like many of us, realize that many beatboxers mis-classify non throat basses as “throat bass”, I think the main point here is that he uses “high pressure”. His bass is definitely a form of chest bass, no doubt about that when trying to imitate his. And there’s also no doubt about vocals being present too. However, my theory is that that third, additional component of his and kenôzen’s “vocalized chest bass” that makes it sound so much different than the Wunknown or Big Ben or effaybee “subwoofer” vocalized chest bass is that he’s applying that pressure hard enough to allow the false vocal chords and arrytenoid cartilage from throat bass to join in the mix and add to the two tones creating a bass of 3 tones, if you will, all lined up on the same note (but probably not all in the same octave). That’s a 3-tone vocalized chest bass! I also admit I thought of this idea too because I have seen other rare instances of throat bass being coupled with another bass, like throat bass+lip bass which is what mr dimple does all the time (it’s why his lip basses don’t sound just like smooth normal vocals with lip oscillation, there’s a more “dryer”, robotic-like tone to them, I’ve confirmed this 100% by replicating the combo bass myself). What are your thoughts on slizzer’s and kenôzen’s bass being an offspring of vocalized chest bass AND throat bass, and that being the factor that makes them sound different from the subwoofer vocalized chest bass? And 2. What do you think are the mechanics behind indicator’s “alien bass”? (I’ve already heard someone in the comments who’s spoken with indicator and saying that he confirms it’s NOT vibration bass, he goes into explaining how it’s using the 1st subharmonic register and combining the false vocal chord vibration of vibration bass but I got lost) my only thought is that indicator’s bass sounds a lot like basilio’s “low bass” or “bass guitar” sound which unfortunately the only tutorial on it is in Russian. Are you able to perform basilio’s bass btw? What are your thoughts on it and it’s relation to indicator’s bass, and what indicator’s bass really is?
