Welcome back Nick! This is a great video! And when I say "Welcome back" I am referring to is that (although you've been creating videos, all along) it has been about 5-6 months since you've made one creating such helpful macros--especially using this awesome API, ScriptCards! You are such a master with ScriptCards, I usually watch these 4, 5, 6, 10 times or more. I have been trying to utilize ScriptCards in more and more of my macros, because you can do so much more, as you know. All I want for Christmas is more of these macro building videos! I know you are likely doing some of the other videos, i.e. Running Your First Combat, Reviewing the New Beta Character Sheet, and Aligning Maps to a Grid, due to your sponsorship by Roll20. [IMHO-They couldn't sponsor a better content creator!] While those are great as well for newer DMs and players, new to Roll20, it just feels like you've done all the basics of Roll20, long ago--or they have. Either way, "I need more cowbell!" Please continue making videos like this! Macros and Scripting is your wheelhouse. I can't wait for more! 😉

Thank you very much Nick for all your hard work. I have only been watching your videos for a few months but have been able to easily apply to my games your beginner friendly coding. My plays love the improvements made to the game. All around it’s a more enjoyable table. None of which would have happened without you. Truly thank you sir, and happy gaming!

You have to be careful copying values for bar values if the bar is linked. For example, I've run into some issues where if I use a mod to set my players' HP (even though it's linked), it'll be come desynced with Beyond20 and Roll20 (aka it'll, for some reason, stop updating other tokens, even though there's a link). It's definitely a Roll20 bug that they probably won't fix any time soon, but something to keep in mind.

That's a great point and something to keep in mind, thanks for the heads up!

I will have to try that out in my “Sandbox Game” and play around with it! Thanks!!

Hey Nick. Once again, I'm loving your work. I wish I had this 2 years ago, but I will be using it going forward. Is there a similar thing that could add Abilities from the "Attributes and Abilities" tab on the character sheet? There are three Abilities that I want added to most of my NPC characters and right now, the only way I can do that is to manually copy the name and contents of each of the three abilities from a character who already has them.

Glad the video was helpful! I haven't tried the ability copying bit myself, but I found this thread that sounds like it'd do what you want. app.roll20.net/forum/post/2826804/copy-individual-abilities-from-one-character-to-another Best of luck, and happy gaming!

What advantage does the drop-down menu in the edit token to 😊set the new token to represent the new character?
@NickOlivoАй бұрын
I'm sorry, I don't understand the question. Could you rephrase?
@CaseyWilkesmusicАй бұрын
@ sorry! In the edit token menu there is an drop-down menu option for a token to represent a certain NPC or PC. Normally if I make a custom token, I’ll find art i like and then assign that token to represent whatever character I need it to. Is there a difference in the ultimate outcome?
@NickOlivoАй бұрын
Ah, gotcha. No, the idea is the same. The token would then represent whatever character you selected. This just automates the process of setting all the other properties (bar values, name plates, auras, whatever else you want) from one token to another.
@CaseyWilkesmusicАй бұрын
@ ahhhh! That is indeed a fast shortcut once it’s set up. Thanks for the clarification!!

Hello, it doesn't seem to be working for me. I copy and pasted the code from your info below the video into a new macro box and a box did pop up asking me to choose the token to add the properties to, but then it didn't work, nothing happened, just that after a pause, the original token was highlighted. I noticed int he video the spacing was different so I tried it that way but it didn't work then either, but this time the second token I clicked on was highlighted, but the properties circles were still blank. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for any guidance! I feel like I am so close to getting it, but still messing a small part of it up. Appreciate your time!
@NickOlivoАй бұрын
Just to confirm, you have the scriptcards mod installed in your game?

@@NickOlivo looks like that was the issue, so sorry I am so new to this!

I'm not sure what is happening; when I choose the target token to copy, all info in the bars are deleted from both tokens. I was using the Commoner token as the target, and brought in various tokens to represent miscellaneous commoners in Seadeeps level of DotMM.

Can you paste the code you're using here and I'll take a look?

This is actually really super helpful! I followed the link to the wiki, but I don't see an attribute assigned for Night Vision Tint... any idea what it could be or how I can find out?
@NickOlivoАй бұрын
Try night_vision_tint or t-night_vision_tint. If either of those don't work, your best bet is to try over on the Roll20 forums. Good luck, and happy gaming!

@@NickOlivo Worked like a charm! I kept trying night_vision_color and night_vision_tintcolor... never occurred to me to drop the color for the name! Huge fan of the channel and your videos have helped my game prep tremendously. Thank you so much!!

Ok, this is cool, but rarely do I have a token which I am trying to just change. I see where it highlights the ability of power cards and might get people going to look at it (and power cards is a very powerful tool). My issue is that I commonly will have 20 tokens representing a mob of bad guys (say city guards) which the players are interacting with. I don't play DnD, and in the game I play, for various reasons, I create 20 characters and link a token to each character sheet. To do this I create the 1st one, with all the stats and abilities and a token, and go to copy him 19 more times. Easy enough. But all of the tokens on the 19 "copied" guys are tied to the 1st guy. What I need to do is go the other way. I need to reset the name and bar of #2 through #19 to the character sheet properties of #2 through #19. For a DnD example, I need to update the token to reference City Guard #2, and the 1st Bar to represent City Guard #2 HP, and the 2nd Bar to City Guard #2 AC, and the 3rd Bar to City Guard #2 ki Points (it's been years since I've played DnD, don't get lost in the names, not sure Ki points is even a thing, you get the idea). Automating that would be cool, but there does not seem to be a way to do that (which I have found) (but I don't really program). So what I wind up doing is putting all 19 tokens on the board, and manually updating which character the token is linked to, and what property each bar is linked to.
@johnjones6115Ай бұрын
Would this work to update tokens from 2014 to 2024? We bought a module that has 2014 NPC/monster tokens. It is tedious to manually update each one to the newer version.
@NickOlivoАй бұрын
Unfortunately, mods don't work with the 2024 character sheet yet.
@paulroyal2177Ай бұрын
This is completely unnecessary. Without a Pro account, you can Edit Token, Remove token image, slide another image on, Update Token (to change the file in the Journal), and Save. Done. The only reason to want this Macro and tray-button, is if you have a scene with injured characters, and they get illusions for a mass Disguise spell.
@NickOlivoАй бұрын
You're right that this can be done without a Pro account, however, it involves multiple steps, and I had about 30 or 40 tokens I needed to update. Automating saved me a lot of tedious work. Thanks for watching and happy gaming.
