I couldn't agree more. As a person who is constantly worrying about what I am gonna eat and how I am gonna pay the rent, it is a lot harder to make a first client because you already have some problems on your mind. This is perfect to start learning when you are still going to school because school takes a lot less energy than regular 9-5. If you dont wanna be worrying how to pay the rent when you finish school, start learning copywrithing before it's too late! Greetings from Croatia :)

If you can write, you’re persistent and can quickly pick up the basics of the architecture of persuasion, you certainly can make $100k your first yr.

So you’re saying I can make 6 figures this year? 😅 Thanks for another great video. I love your more realistic perspective. I started looking into Copywriting after going through career counselling and the first thing I saw where those “make 6 figured while working 2 hours a day from the beach” kind of promises. And honestly it almost scared me away from copywriting because it sounds so much like a scam and an empty promise. I find it a relief to see a more realistic perspective.

Joanna wiebe of copyhacker centers her entire marketing pitch around "10x". It's a little misleading, but if you have a base monthly revenue of $5k, then simply increasing your earnings an extra 10% a month will ensure you make 6 figures in 12 months. When you put it that way, it seems like the hardest milestone is hitting the 5k mark, everything else comes with some modicum of improvement
@naniehurley
@naniehurley Жыл бұрын
@@thatWonKrnGuy I can see how increasing your earnings 10% a month can seem like a more feasible thing to do. But I also still think that can be pretty hard plus 5k income a month is quite high. I really do appreciate when I see a more realistic approach like they have in this video. 6 figures is a possibility, but it’ll take a lot of work and commitment, and probably quite some time too. For me, personally, I like to set attainable goals. That way I can build a path for myself and feel like I’m progressing and growing. If I start with a 6 figures goal, I might feel like a failure or I might feel like I’m just not suitable for the job, when in fact it was the goal that wasn’t suitable for me. I’m not saying that’s true for everyone, of course. A lot of people see the 6 figure pitch and get very motivated. And if someone already has the 5k a month income, increasing it by 10% a month can be realistic and doable.

@@naniehurley Yeah, not saying it's going to be easy. But focus on hitting your first 5k month, because once you do that, you know what to do. A 5k month is far far more attainable after all!

When it comes to applying for a job to an In-House company and you don't have any degrees- is it possible to get your way in by just having a great portfolio, CV, and sample pack? Also- what if you only have a marketing minor?

I know several people who have done it. But they were all good writers to begin with. This is something people overlook, the fact that copywriting is WRITING. Most people trying to be copywriters simply can’t write. They’re just attracted to the money and they think it’s a way to get rich quickly.

We're working on something more comprehensive, but this series of videos is called "Copywriting 101" for a reason. They're meant for the people who ask questions like "What is copywriting" and "How does copywriting even work." More basic than basic.

@@CopyThat thanks for the reply! Whilst I agree with the notion that it's an okay video as a brief overview, but personally I would recommend linking the Video “How To Sell Your Copywriting Services In 1 Hour (Free Course)” on your website instead of the 101 one. It is a bit longer but well worth the time! Especially after watching the 5-hour informative video, the “How to Sell Your Copy…”one seems kinda less “off putting” if you catch my drift! I am keen to see the new one once it drops!

"They've been sold this dream that copywriting is their way to financial freedom and being a millionaire, but for 99% of people it is not" Let's scratch the "millionaire" part. Are you saying that copywriting is not a way to financial freedom for 99% of people, but at the same time it's a great career? Wouldn't seem so great to me. I'm going to assume the wording is just a little unfortunate on this one, and that the message was "don't expect to get rich quick" and not "don't expect to get rich, don't even expect financial freedom"
@CopyThat
@CopyThat 9 ай бұрын
No, the original wording was correct. Even people that get a career as a copywriter, it is not a path to financial freedom. It's a fun career because you get to work with interesting ideas and solve challenging problems and, wow, you get paid to write to people about things that could potentially improve their lives! But the number of people who are able to attain complete independence from all other financial forces, bosses, the pressures of supply and demand? The number of people who have attained that is precisely zero, because true financial freedom is a myth and no one should expect it.
@metalmarten3478
@metalmarten3478 9 ай бұрын
@@CopyThat I guess that comes down to how we define "financial freedom". In my mind it meant not having to rely on other sources of income besides copywriting. But if we see it as freedom of never having to think about finances at all (which is indeed silly to expect, unless maybe you're born into a rich family) then that's different. Anyway, I'm new to all this, and on the surface "writing advertisement" didn't seem too interesting of a job... but once I tried remaking a copy and then writing my own, I realised it's actually really exciting. I could see myself doing this every day for a living. Well, I guess it's onto your course then (does this last part even work as a sentence?)
