Yes its insane how most koi ponds are just a rectangle bowl with water. They say because you need to clean tje bottom easier. But having substrate and plants does all if not all of the cleaning for your. Bacteria in the substrate breaks down the waste and then the plants suck up the waste.
@SissypheanCatboy7 ай бұрын
@@sariel8406 koi will absolutely destroy plants, what are you talking about? They're carp, they eat everything they can get their mouth on. That aside, planting enough to actually have an impact on the sheer amount of waste an adult koi will produce would make it impossible to observe the koi at all.

You should have hired a professional tiler though, both the inside and outside tiles don't have a flat surface and few join well together. Personally, I would have gone for tropical fish and a little sand beach so I can have a nice warm bath in winter. 😄
@hollycarfley5747 Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for doing a cost breakdown! I always hate it when KZbinrs say : costs to keep blablabla and then have an extreme variety in range of costs. Like, I’m here to see how much to expect, not get scared about how much money I’ll be dropping! This is such a cool tank- can’t wait till you get some sting rays for the tank!!!🤩
@AzraelThanatos Жыл бұрын
Honestly, it's probably more like $30K with current prices (or more depending upon Ed's people's time costs). While you suggest an arowana, the pond is not a good option for them or any fish with a tendency to jump. You might want to find something other than the planned Stingrays to put in there permanently because you're going to hit the one major issue with having indoor/outdoor fish that you transfer, the cycle collapsing on you each time so something to keep the cycle going and keep some interest in the top of the pond...
@dreiineinemboot Жыл бұрын
How does that work with the humidity in the room? Does it not get to damp or moldy?
@shindama Жыл бұрын
You forgot to add the free labor and supplies probably easily 3-5k so really closer to 20K. That’s way more than the average person can afford. Also- how much does it cost to run?

@@GucciWF real plants are amazing however the upkeep on that many behind a pond is a ton of work. Getting the lighting, nutrients, and moister just right is a tricky balance. Deal leaves falling and full spectrum lights will cause algae to grow at a much faster rate. Plus plants grow so that would mean getting into the water to trim and manage them so they dont grow out of control. Fake plants just need to be dusted.

WOW so, this is pretty impressive ! I just have to say that Koi aren't kept in my part of Australia, but as I work in a store that sells fish and have to constantly try to convince people not to put goldfish in 20 liter tanks, this was VERY heartening to watch. Great to know some people don't mind putting in the effort for their fish! I have a few questions about the build - I've done a bit of tiling. Did you have to find special tile glue and grout for the inner tank tiles that wouldn't leech chemicals? Also the plants used, were they special aquarium safe plants or just regular plastic plants?

I'm not going to lie man you're a youngster and I can't fault you for having a dad that makes a lot of money. But you just need to understand how lucky you are. Your pa is rich and the fact that he let's you do that shit to his house is pretty special and rare because I promise you he didn't want that pond. Coming from an old dad Myself I know exactly how he felt seeing it. Now I know you have a KZbin channel and are making a good amount of money by yourself. But Just understand how lucky you are and how you've never had to really work a day in your life. Not hating on you because I promise you I want to be able to be like your dad is to you to my kids. But damn man you are one of the lucky rare ones who goes from a Dad who's a millionaire ( you're probably the spoiled only child as well) to somehow getting a KZbin channel where you'll probably make over 100k a year. You suck lol 😆 (not really just a lil jealous) keep it up just want you to know you're blessed and a lucky kid. So don't forget it, and understand how cool your dad is. Your mom might be cool but I doubt she had anything to do with bringing in the money as you were growing up so thank you're damn dad... he's a good one! 😊
