Firstly, I have to say, I love this series. It's wonderful work. I just rewatched "Scene 6" and noticed something. I do not think Mel is the Beldam in that scene. When she looks over the keyhole of the door, she notices that it matches an older mortice key design. This means that any of the newer keys she sifts through in the drawer can not be used, because they simply would not be able to turn the lock. So, she knows she's looking for a mortice key, and the button one is the first one she finds. Also the quizzical look at the key I think is genuine cause, when have any of us seen a key with a button design!

I always loved Charlie's reaction to the performers. After first watching the movie, I noticed the Shakespeare Festival banner and thought, "Oh, that's why they're there."

3:25 I love how in the fade to the real world the other mother is sitting in the chair watching her and in the real world her proxy, the doll, is sitting in the chair watching her. And you don't realize until a second viewing that you realize how significant it is that the doll is where the other mother was. She's still there sitting there watching her. Oh I've seen it before but they actually went through the effort to have the other building signs reflecting in the window of the gardening store.

Actually with Persephone eating the Pomegranate seeds, if you eat any food in the underworld, you stay there forever. Hades made an exception because of Demeter. So however many seeds she ate that’s how many months she stays with Hades and how many months Demeter gets her for. It may be different depending on the version but that’s the version I’m familiar with.

There's also a 50% off sign in the other window of the Garden shop. That's a pretty nice sale but as you mentioned no one's really gardening in winter. And I'm not sure how many people are planning to buy ahead for the spring/summer. So it makes me wonder just how well the store is actually doing epsecially if their lastest gardening guide is being published later than you would expect as you also mentioned.

It might be a dream. Coraline goes to bed in the 'real " world then she dreams that she is in a different world. Then she wakes up in the "real "world.

I might catch this but the inside of mulch building doesn’t look like that place where you would meet your boss and get your next assignment and one thing i kinda think that the other father when he says that everything is right in “this world ” that gave me an idea of the other world act like an alternate universe or timeline

so with catalogues "chapters" is a bit of a misnomer. When I was a kid my family got the Sears Christmas catologue (and when I became a paper boy I had to carry those logs up and down the street man they were heavy) and it had "chapters" to signify the different sections of goods such as furniture toys food clothes etc. So chapter 1 would be furniture 2 would be food etc and the one we kids cared about was the toys section which was the last chapter in the catalogue.

The president’s day poster could have been from the lead up to president’s day and the owner just forgot to take it down. And the winter sale could be so older people can buy gardening things ahead of time so they don’t have to deal with the spring rush.

I just realized today that the rats and the cute little mouse things are different creatures from different countries tries. I think the hoppy mouse things are Gerboas. They're from Australia. They have a neat long tail. Big huge feet, and cute little faces. It's a really specific critter. Wondered if Australia fits in? That's where Gerboas come from. 🤷‍♂️

The Persephone thing was a compromise, actually. Demeter was too depressed to do her job without her daughter. Persephone was anchored to the underworld from eating the food there. It wouldn't have mattered what food she ate. It matters that she ate something. But without Demeter humanity was going to starve so Zeus was forced to do something because Hades had a legitimate claim over Persephone. So he decided on the compromise that Persephone would stay one month in the underworld for every pomegranate seed she ate. The food in itself had nothing to do with how long she stayed.

For clarification, because you are saying that Coraline is shifted to another area of the Other world and not home upon waking up, that means the car ride through Ashland Oregon is an illusion as well right? YES! I personally believe they're in the Other World right now and this is all an illusion. And I'm having a really hard time with this upcoming scene trying to look at it as both the real world and the Other World at the same time, because there are so many oddities going on in the clothes shopping/grocery scene!

Wait but other wybi is made of sawdust aka plant matter and dose that mean bobinsky forcabel and phink eat too because rats eat and taffy comes from plant matter like super and vegtubal oil . Maybe it's buttons because it stitches you to something from the other world and that's why you can't leave it's like an anchor dose anything that the beldam creates abel to leave the other world? I mean we don't know we're her hand a the key come from exactly
