I have been using the XL for years but always wondered can someone who owns the standard sized saw not just build a modification to "jack up" the hight of the motor & top wheel unit such as a spacer block between it & the thumbscrew? I know the pole runners on the XL model I have are pretty long & imagine I could jack up the motor/top wheel part a good few inches & if necessary even extend the pole runners. Just a thought anyway.

+Gaz Fragz you could make something as long as it matches the diamond blade length then you'd be ok. Plus you need it straight or the blade will walk with to much play. But doable

To be honest I'd like to mod my XL to take the 37" blades as I can get them delivered to the UK for £10 to £30 depending on their quality where as the 42" blades cost £55 to £70 each delivered. It'd be be worth switching to the smaller blades when only chopping up smaller corals but I dare say I couldn't bring my self to risk chopping into my Gryphon XL to modify it!!!
