Great video and stills Purpz, this is the Cowthick Quarry line and the green patch that curves off to the south is the branch line that went to Oakley Quarry. The Cowthick Quarry line was retained long after the closure of the steelworks and quarries in 1980 as a potential rubbish site, with train-loads of refuse being brought in for dumping in the quarry, this didn't materialise and the rails were finally lifted in the early 1990s. The bridge under the A43 was named "The Rat Hole" by the engine crews on the ironstone trains.

Great images and good music 😁 According to the birds it was pretty early 😉 I used to live in Geddington and loved the area and drive to Corby. Nowadays when I think of Corby I think of the awful roundabout and beautiful medical clinic. Also a young couple Billy and Natali from Corby met at Euro hotel Wellingborough.

Hi Purple, thanks for that. I can still see Corby steelworks [stewart and Lloyds] as it was known and the Loco depot at Gretton Brook, always full of class 15 shunters on a sunday morning. All long gone now, I don't recognise the area much where you were. Change and progress i guess.

We knew that area as Blackhills ! Very popular for off road motorcycling in the 80's after the steelworks closed.
