This is great. I'd like to see some vintage engineer boots maybe in the future, it's my favorite boot style. Thanks for sharing these awesome things along with your insights Derek. Happy holidays to you and your family, bud.

Used to be common for guys to have at least 2 pairs, one pair would be kept immaculately spit shined and only worn for parades or inspections, then immediately taken off. The other pair would get brush shined and worn in garrison, since it only takes a minute to touch up a scuffed brush shined boot. I still have a pair, the first day i got them i shined them to perfection just like black mirrors i put them on and going out of the building i whack one with the edge of a door while opening it putting a large cut in the toe cap. I couldn't fill or repair it satisfactorily so they became knock around boots. They aren't good for much but boy are they a sharp look

Sorry that happened! Good story though. Yes they look fantastic, but that's about it.

I bought a pair on my first army assignment in CONUS. it was at a research and testing post, so no airborne duty or anyone demanding only jump qualified airborne status to wear them. They just look good, higher than standard army issue boots, and took a great shine. As an officer, i wanted to look sharp and be an example to the troops. Tossed them in the trash when i left the army.

I think everyone seems to come to that same thing.

I have a pair; Canada also came up with the Garrison Boot that are like Jump Boots with lug soles. My favorite sole is Red Wings Iron Ranger cork soles; sadly they no longer make the cork soles.

Nice. Check the bay, maybe you'll find a pair nos.

I had a pair of those uncomfortable boots when I was a kid lol
@derekdoeschannelАй бұрын
I haven't heard one person say how comfortable these are. lol
@TheBizzinissАй бұрын
Had those exact same boots. I was in the army when they switched to the newer, tan, non polishable boots but before then we had to shine our boots in garrison and those shined up super nice. They form to your feet faster than the standard issue leather boots. I would t wear them in the field. Just in garrison.
@derekdoeschannelАй бұрын
I think that's the consensus on these, they look great but are not great boots for field wear.

I've owned a pair of jump boots for years, and I only recently found out the size on them is wrong. The inside tag says one size, and the soles say another size.
@derekdoeschannelАй бұрын
I'd go with the inside tag, as maybe they just used a sole from a different size and cut it down to fit the boot.

I bought a pair of Corcoran Tanker boots some years ago. Not likely to need resoling even if my tank ever clears Customs 😂
@derekdoeschannelАй бұрын
Those tankers do look quite nice. Eastman was selling a WWII repro that look great also.

Just found a pair of unused 1500s that had been parade waxed and put back in the box at my thrift store

Fantastic! Like a new pair of boots!

@ yeah and the break in is just as bad!

I had a pair and a pair of jungle boots 86-92 both the most uncomfortable boots I’ve ever worn. But if you knew how to spit shine good the jump boots were the best for inspections.
@derekdoeschannelАй бұрын
Yes, nobody talks about how fantastic old army boots were to wear. But they looked great!

I was wearing my Corcorans when my foot was almost crushed- my boot popped many seams, tore the stitches, my whole foot was black and blue- only my big toe had a hairline fracture. My room was on the forth story of the Barrics
@derekdoeschannelАй бұрын
Wow. A pair saved your foot!
@richardmardis2492Ай бұрын
@ It sure did keep my foot from having many more broken bones👍
@MrRazortimesАй бұрын
The 1500 are the best quality wise that corcoran produce. The brown 1511 only have poron insole without liner, no side canvas reinforcment liner anymore and probably thinber leather
@derekdoeschannelАй бұрын
Thanks. I figured the 1500 were the ones to get.

Back in the 80's I wore these and they were very loud boots, they squeeked so loudly. I thought they were defective.
@derekdoeschannelАй бұрын
I bet that's just how they all are. Keep in mind the army got rid of them back in 44.

As far as a combat boot jump boots are terrible. Your feet will freeze when it's cold and be wet when it's wet. The sole is not designed for mud or anything in the field. But, back in the day we bloused jump boots with the dress green uniform and also khaki's while assigned with the 101st. No boot looked better in garrison than those.
@derekdoeschannelАй бұрын
Thanks, it's looking like everyone is saying that about this style.
@giantskunk28 күн бұрын
Wore these in the 80’s army. Looked great and took an excellent shine, but were not warm at all. My feet used to freeze in them. I wore a pair of Bundeswehr boots when I could.
