I bought my first Tivo in 1999 and ever since I prefer no commercials or the ability to skip them. I even watch live sports on 10-20 minute delay so I can skip commercials. I pay for YT premium, MAX, Netflix and couple others just to avoid watching commercials. I don't mind commercials if I can skip them, sometimes commercials are OK if they are promoting a product I am interested in or simply entertaining.

One reason I think METV is popular is because a majority of the content is rescanned (cleaned up) for HDTV, thus looks better today than when it was first aired. Other OTA networks offer much poor quality, IMO often looks as bad as watching old VHS, much worse than the orginal NTSC broadcasts. They should at least be NTSC quality (480i).

Agreed but having used an OTA antenna with a HDHomeRun box for a couple months now - I kind of like watching content that's lower resolution (not lower quality - i.e. pixelated) - there's something about watching stuff I grew up watching in 4:3 format and in a somewhat imperfect way - call it quaint or charming. Now that said, watching 4k content on a large screen that's capable of that with a great audio system is pretty boss too.

In my area MeTV was on a -2 channel and on a larger one. It moved off to a low powered channel on a -2 channel again. Within a year it bought that channel and turned their own channel on the -1 channel and increased power and is positioned to be increasingly popular. MeTV in St. Louis has evolved big time.

Yeah I've been a T-Mobile 5G home internet customer coming up on 3 years. They were very nice about it. It wasn't even complicated. They got the things set up for me. Told me how to set the Wi-Fi password and even wrote it down for me. I took it home just like that guy but I did it myself but they said it have only take me about 10 minutes to set it up and they were right. I like it so much I got it for a friend of mine and she's had a good experience with it except couple times we had to get a new router modem thing because she's had some issues but beyond that you don't have to pay an arm and a leg to have T-Mobile home internet.

I have to dispute that number of 2k free channels because most of them are repeat channels. For example things like Price is Right can be found on almost all of the free streaming apps as can almost anything from Film RIse. Now I haven't sat down to count every single channel but if I had to guess the actual number is probably less than 10% of that number which is still a lot of free channels but nowhere near that 2k number.
@GreyEagleTech
@GreyEagleTech 4 күн бұрын
There are repeat channels on services for sure, but every service has some channels that other services don't have. The number of channels grows monthly with just under 100 new channels available in the last 8 months.. I have an app that curates all these channels into one interface, so trust me when I say this. These channels absolutely all exist in the numbers that are claimed

@@GreyEagleTech Where's the data for this? I'm sorry but you just saying turst me isn't convincing. I can go on Pluto, Tubi, Freevee and Roku right now and find 27/7 channels of Price is Right (both the Bob Barker and regular), Cold Case Files, First 48 and Match Game and that's just off the top of my head because there are about 50 or so that I've seen on every single platform just scrolling through looking for something to watch. I am will to admit if I'm wrong but I need to see the data because the Film Rise catalog alone accounts for around 25 to 30% (if not significantly more) of all these 24/7 channels and they sell to everyone.

Question for Luke: I hear MeTV being discussed on your channel lately. Where MeTV offers older content that didn’t seem to promote political and social agendas.

more T-Mobile 5G services are needed to compete with cable companies internet. Cable push hard to have you buy much faster speeds than you need. I just hooked up a summer home with 100M download speed and so far I can't tell any difference for surfing, reading mail, and streaming. Unless you have a half dozen users all streaming at the same time you won't notice the difference

@@eltigre5469 But it is so randomly hit and miss. I attended a VA residential program in Southern Oregon recently and we were houses in two man rooms of which there a couple of dozen. Several people had the same equipment and signal was the same as t-mobile has from a start up here. In one it'd be good to go. In a room right next that room it'd suck big donkey dicks. It was wild inconsistent from room to room. I've heard people say the same about Starlink. I'm old fashion I guess, I like to be wired from the source, preferably fiber but coaxial will do. And then I like ethernet cabling in my home. I'll often use a ethernet to USB adapter for power and internet connection on my mobile devices. 6GHz (just yesterday I read about 7GHz being the newer-new standard now) and WPA3 security is an improvement over 2.4 and 5 GHZ but a wired with fiber or ethernet is still more secure, stable and speedy.

There are some i follow on youtube and usually i have to see at least 5 ads on each one i see. I'll keep my cable for now anyway. It has just what i want to see and if i had to go to live streaming services it would cost me more than cable. i have kids and they are of different ages. i would have to add services to suit them as well as wife and i. Unless you live next to a 5g tower, the speeds are nowhere near cable, the biggest problem with it being latency, again not even close to cable. We just got Verizon 5g home service in our area, I tried it, I live 1 mile from the tower, could only get 1 bar steady signal once in a while it would get 2 bars, speeds were 200-250mb download/10-15mb upload and latency of around 100ms, compared to our cable service at 500mb/20 with 20-30ms latency, for around the same price. Now my phone or tablet when right next to the tower, I get upwards of 750mb download/100mb upload and still close to 100ms latency.
