Roku Channel and Pluto are my favorite free content apps for sure. I also convinced my elderly aunt to get a Roku and she loves it, she cut the cord and can find lots of old movies that she has wanted to see again for the longest time. It took a couple weeks of teaching her how to use it, but now she loves it and can find whatever she wants. A great idea for a video series would be tutorials for seniors, starting with the VERY basics, assuming nothing.

Walmart's problem with "fresh" food is it is always near expiration or sometimes already expired. Then you call and they say you have to bring the expired item into the store. Last time this happened, I went to the aisle and the same item (in store) had a date several weeks fresher than what I had received. After having this happen 3 times I stopped using this service.

I cut the cord this past winter. I'm saving $100 a month, and I'm on fixed income so I had to do it. I love Roku! I have Sling @ $40 a month and my internet $85. I got tired of paying cable for junk channels I never watched..then they took away over 50 channels and wanted to charge me to get them back. I threw a fit and disconnected that very day. 😂 The best part is being able to watch on my phone when I'm away from home.

I just got the Walmart/Paramount + deal for $50 for the first year. I don't have any other streaming, just my antenna. I bought that mainly for the grocery delivery service.

I noticed that Instacart, who is competing with Amazon Prime, Walmart+, Uber Eats, and Doordash, has added Peacock for free if you buy a subscription for their delivery service.

For groceries Amazon had you pay extra for "Fresh" but yesterday I got an offer from them free delivery from one of my favorite stores Metropolitan Market in W Seattle. I ordered a couple of things to see and they delivered at no extra charge. What I liked about it is they also allow you to choose a delivery time window of a couple of hours so your frozen stuff is not outside for long periods. They also let you tip the delivery person.

Was an Prime member but dropped it after multiple slow deliveries (items not shipped for a week or more, nullifying 2 day delivery). When Walmart says 2 day delivery they actually deliver in 2 days. The other perks are great too. Price is more reasonable too. Sticking with Walmart.

I don't have either Amazon or Walmart memberships. I had Amazon Prime until the price went up to $139/year. But I'm retired, I drive, and live within 5 miles of 3 Walmarts. There's also Target nearby.

I cut Prime, when I cut the cord 7 months ago. Last week there was a football game hubby wanted to see, so I logged on and I got a deal for 3 months 7.99? It worked out great bc it had some stuff I wanted to watch. I just sub to Netflix only for Mike Tyson for the can of Whoop*** he will bring tomorrow.🙏😉🤣👍 Everybody & their brother decided to raise all the prices of whatever we use in our daily lives, Prime Netflix cable went out the window. 7 months post cord cutting only regret is I didn't do it sooner. Roku is my user face for streaming. I love it but I only sub to the main streaming channels, no third party shenanigans.🙏 Let's Freaking Go Big Mike.👍👍👍

Where I live Amazon doesn’t deliver groceries in my area. I have both Amazon for many years & Walmart + those are my main shopping as I don’t have a car & physically walking in a store is a challenge.

I am a disabled senior and I was a Prime member. During covid Amazon canceled my account because they kept delivering my groceries elsewhere and blamed me for it.

I do both. When it time to order groceries, I get out my computor and phone, and compare prices. Who is lower get my order. Right now, fresh delivery from. Amazon is not here. I am hoping it will come, so I can compare.

Good stuff here. My only suggestion, you need to clean up your script writing. Often times you repeat yourself. Sometimes you tend to jump back and forth between topics. Keep it short & concise. Good content and informative.

Amazon still needs to release a puck-style streaming device with an ethernet port. I hate wifi for streaming. You can add a USB-to-ethernet adapter to their streaming sticks but it's a wiring mess and costs extra to do.

I like Pluto TV. Their channels do not cut out after some time, which means I can leave it on as background noise for the dogs during the day. Whereas most of these services cut out after a couple hours or so and doesn't reconnect. Makes me kinda miss cable. The keyword here is "kinda". While cable tv is more convenient and easier to deal with, it's also a lot more expensive.

Weird. I leave my tv on for my dog as well and the only app that doesn't seem to cut out is roku. Most others (haven't checked them all yet) do time out including Pluto. And Pluto does it while I'm watching it which is so annoying. I've checked every setting I can find to not have this happen and it still happens.

I have roku. Pluto is what I usually turn on and look for live channels to watch at the time. I usually just want a program on while I'm doing other things. If I leave the house with the TV on it sometimes will cut the channel. So for your dog you might want to try turning on pandora music. I have left that playing all day and I don't think it's ever cut off.

@@mekon1971 Sure. But my point is that these companies are trying to sell a product. And I'm simply pointing out a major bug / mistake that for whatever reason hasn't been fixed yet. If they truly wish for streaming to take over and become the next cable or ota TV, it also needs to be as streamlined, easy and convenient. They have yet to accomplish this. Because judging by their numbers, it seems that people are giving them a chance, but reverting back to what they're used to, probably because streaming is a bigger hassle even if it's cheaper.

I have yet to find a way to watch my favorite NFL and NBA team live games. I would pay just to watch those two teams maybe as much as 20 a month but I can’t find a way too. ☹️

Thank you for this information yes I'm a big Roku channel fan there is just endless content on it, I tried watching it on my iPhone instead of my Roku TV and the only feature that would work on it was the remote control but I could not get any channels to play on my iOS device. Am I doing something wrong or is the app only for use of the remote? I don't know what I'm doing wrong but it will not show me any channels on the iOS app

I’m confused. None of these new channels are showing on Roku. Also, where are these channel numbers coming from? I have no channel numbers on Roku.

You need to rescan your live tv. Go to settings, tv inputs and readd Live TV only (not antenna and cable.) click next and give it a moment to rescan all the channels, it should add the new ones. After this I would do a manual hard restart of your system by powering off, unplugging your tv, waiting a minute, then plugging back in and powering on. New channels should appear by then.

@@andrewriggs9808 yes I'm talking the Roku web channels, not OTA. 🤨 You generally have to do a rescan of the live tv (otherwise known as web channels) input for the new ones to appear, at least if you want to access them right then.. otherwise you may have to wait a while for them to show up by themselves. You seem to be skeptical of my advice.. I know my stuff, I wouldn't have chimed in to your apparent solicitation for help otherwise. 😳

Hello, I Subscribe to both. Walmart is always out of stock and Amazon discontinued their prime 2 hour delivery service. And both do not deliver to my location. I place an order and the postal or ups delivers in 1-3-7 days.

Question for Luke. I just got a new Roku Ultra 2022 model on sale $59. Extremely happy but hoping to get help with an issue. The adds shown on my Home screen are not appropriate! Cleavage and scantly clad women. I have the parental controls to only show pg but I guess the advertisers don't consider their ads as racy as I do. Is the any way to block the ads on the latest update version? Thanks.

I love my Roku stick 4K for all the free content on the Roku channel they offer a lot over other streaming sticks and they are the leader in that and that is what makes them #1 over other streaming devices and have the option to watch content commercial free is you chose to sign up for a prescription but you don't have to. I do say it is cheaper having a streaming stick then paying money for a smart tv with the software built into the TV. When the device becomes obsolete and firmware does not update it is cheaper to replace a streaming stick over a smart TV. I am starting to like watching that and be able to pick what I want then what my cable tv is offering for almost 300.00 a month for high speed Internet, phone, Basic Cable tv channels with Astound broadband service in the Chicago, IL market. The only thing that keeps me from cutting cable just yet is our bundle for live tv content, high speed internet package, single internet package is cheaper than streaming prescriptions, single internet service lately. Nothing is cheaper right now. I have both options right now for my tv watching and home entertainment.

The CW can shove it. I’m so tired of their high and mighty attitude. Oh we’re so ashamed we were known as the genre network. Only things I watch on there are Superman and Lois and WWE NXT. The network as we know it won’t be around in 2-5 years, I guarantee it. I’m sorry for the rant but they treat shows I like and the fans like garbage. Nexstar should’ve never been sold the network. Tired of their garbage. Ty Luke for what you do. I appreciate you keep us in the know and please keep up the great work. I appreciate you and sorry again about the rant. Just tired of seeing what was once a good network go down the drain.

Man I have been ordering groceries from Amazon Prime sine the pandemic and for the most part it has been a great experience. The have reasonable prices and the quality of most items is really good. It saves me so much time from having to hit the grocery store. I really like shopping through amazon, my produce, eggs and meat usually always well preserved and are pretty fresh. I don't do Walmart's service though. I haven't been in a Walmart in over a year at least lol.

There's no way I'd order groceries from Walmart or Amazon. I've looked at the groceries in my local Walmart and a lot of the frozen/refrigerated items always seem to be near or over the 'buy' dates on the packaging. Amazon has an Amazon Fresh store not too far from me but I'm just outside their delivery area and I'd have to sign up for (and pay for) Prime to get 'free' delivery. Both are a big NOPE for me. I've got a local grocery store near me, part of a regional chain, that's easy to get around in, great customer service, they gladly take cash for payment, and they don't constantly push 'discount' programs to get your email and other contact information.
