The most intensive game he plays is Fortnight (hes 10). Why build around a core 2 quad? Longest answer: If you have decent motherboard and you are willing to overclock then it can game (not AAA games) paired with let's say 1050/1050 Ti, but if you have OEM pc then C2Q is lacking the power to handle most of ''modern'' games with playable framerates without overclock. It's likely Apex Legends will get a fix to work without those instructions... lots of Games had those issues for a while after release, then Developers figured they'd reach a wider audience if they'd fix it. In fact, both Destiny 2 and No Man's Sky had the same errors, but fixed them. I think Destiny 2 took only 2 Weeks. Sidenote: Don't bother with SFF systems, their PSUs are stupidly expensive even used and more often than not SFF cost more than full size on the used market because people use them as Media PC etc. Also, make sure to check the coolers... the Core2Platforms had very different TDP on CPUs, the Core2Quad Q6600 alone had a 95 and 120w variant and if you want to BSEL mod them, you better have some decent cooling on them.

Another thing I noticed is, that people seem to gravitate towards Laptops nowdays, even if they only use them at home, because they don't take up much space / can be stored away. I get the basic motivation, but... it's one of the things I'd never do... just like buying a car with 3 cylinders.

it would be better to use a newer machine with better power consumption like an Intel NUC instead of a core 2 quad if you want to keep it running 24/7

Good luck playing Apex. The architecture is not supported. But the Core 2 Quad paired with the 1050ti card is nice for decent settings on Fortnite and some other games. PUBG, looks horrible.

And Apex will not support us older Core 2 Quad guys. It could play the game just fine.

@@MrSamadolfo , yep. I am making the move to a new PC build eventually. Trying to get the new one to handle our streaming in twitch, video/photo editing, and gaming. I was excited to see the new game come out, and then realized the time was coming for this old dog to be set aside. Lucky I have a good friend who had an it 3470 sitting around, so I cannibalized the old psu, 1050ti, and other gear to house the mobo, ram, and cpu. This 3470 is a really good cpu. Playing Max settings on most everything, just need to get 16gb ddr 1600 in it instead of the 4gb in it now. This was I nice cheap step up from the qx9650 until I complete the new build.

My QX6700 is still kicking. Can even do basic gaming w/o issue with the 1030 I have in there now (lowest end card I could find to do H.265 decoding). Plex transcoding and other CPU intensive graphics things certainly call for an upgrade.

How about the power supply unit? Optiplex mini PSU is just 275w, and curious the PSU watts is doesnt meet the GPU (gtx 1050 in this case) requirments (300 or 350w according to nv website), so i think its kind of "danger" for the GPU.. because as i know the matter of upgrading GPU is not just how fast is our processors, but the PSU output is need to be concerned too, and the PSU type of that optiplex case is unique..

Everyone is telling that core 2 quad+1050 ti is good,i'd say no because for same or simmilar price you can get RX 570 which actually lets core 2 quad stretch its legs,cooling is a good thing to max out since you will have to push cpu to atleast 4 ghz to get going and yes beefy motherboards are key too something from P35 to X48 will power high overclocks,buy 2 SSD's for boot drive+drive for your stuff,if you want faster net or faster USB,you have to buy PCI express cards for that and last thing is you have to cherry pick RAM because some types of ram work,so if you want to go 16 gb which is doable you have to find RAM which would boot up well,i know so far Transcend KLN1333 4gb runs on core 2 quad and yes certain motherboards can run 16 gb ddr3 or 16 gb ddr2 so keep an eye on those things and you should have cheap system with modern features

Well im actually running decently Metro Exodus on low and medium graphics (1080p) on my Oced to 4.0 C2Q Q9650 paired to a 1050ti and 16gigs of ddr3 ram so i think this 775 socket cpus are still incredibly performing today...

Are they any good ? And what about the cpu is it any good ? And can i overclock this cpu with an oem pc or do i need an after market motherbored to over clock it ?? Plz replay to me thanks in advance sir

It really hurt to watch this video. You talk about "Good old times" with the Core2 Quad and can't distinguish a PCI from an AGP and you don't know about Dells BTX Motherboard form factor and get surprised that a 2 slot card will not fit ...
@solidsnake32923 жыл бұрын
it would be better if you get a core 2 extreme and put it in there

There is lots of issues with Dell systems. Like lack of power supply for the gpu. Also what chipset? Looks like you may have had the PCI express 1 board. What was funny and like LTT is that clearly the GPU is bottle necked by the system. That's why it says 55% I think I saw a peek, while the CPU was 99%. So it's either the board and ram or the CPU. I know the card is slight overkill on that CPU. A 980 would be a better choice. And it would have been balance so you didn't get stutter. I like that fact you said it wasn't... Plainly was...

framerate cap at 120 fps on lower spec cpus and only use medium or high view distance cause the farther u view the more hit the cpu will take cause its gota help render all that and the higher the fps is set the more stuttering ul get learned this from a a8 5500 and a i3 with that game .
