This is a beautiful song! There is something that I have wanted to do for many years and that's to tell you thank you for Never Surrender. I used to struggle with suicidality. It started when I was 15. This song came out when I was 12. I was abused by a parent. I struggled with being gay. I was bullied in school. A loner and just had a hard time with life. And had extremely bad depression. Never Surrender literally kept me alive. I'd get in that dark place. I'd play Never Surrender over and over until I could get through another day. At 50 years old I still play Never Surrender when I am sad. Singing it while I bawl my eyes out (in a good way now). It still moves me. All these many years later it still gets me through. So from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!!! Never Surrender has saved my life many many times.

Wow!!! Such a pretty song! I adore it! "Morning Sun" provokes a strong emotion after listening to it. I didn't realize you were singing to yourself. "Did I let you down?...Did I break your heart?...Moving fast just like a ghost through the trees!! I guess "Morning Sun" is you having lived your way into your answers!! "Now we've kicked it around, and look what we've found, the most wonderful time of our lives" ...So beautiful Corey!!!...I also love how you reuse lyrics you love from previous songs, like "Always" & "Face Brave" ...And now for the video..Alan Frew does an amazing job. This song is a beautiful retrospect on your life, acknowledging how fast time has passed, some missteps along the way, but the importance of living bravely without doubt. When you ask “Did I let you down? Did I break your heart?” you could be asking that of others in your life, but I like to believe you are asking your younger self (the little boy in the picture) if your life choices have let him down, and acknowledging though that you have found the most wonderful times in your life. It also reminds me of Freud’s quote: “One day, in retrospect, the years of struggle will strike you as the most beautiful.” One of my new favourite CH songs.

Amazingly beautiful on so many fronts! Play to a mostly empty room, just trying to follow your passion. Shot in b/w with gentle movements, reflecting upon much, vocals to match (word painting?), the beer drinking (roots, perhaps?), cleaning up the room in order to face the world alone at first, not knowing the future, only to realize later on it was all damned worth it. I may be off mark, but I sense a little bit of a Dad recollection in there - while humbly embracing how life turned out pretty well. Heck, to me, encompasses so much of what was and what is. Friggin' awesome!

Driving home yesterday evening, I was listening to CBC, which happened to be a broadcast about Rilke's life and poetry. Then this morning, I finally listened to and watched Corey's beautiful new music video... which ended with the very quote that I heard last night. That particular poem by Rilke has thrilled me from the first time I heard it at uni many moons ago. The idea of loving the questions themselves and "living the questions now" has always haunted me a little, as well inspired me with the possibilities. Thank you for continuing to make thought-provoking and moving music!

First Watch/listen full of interruptions. but.... first reaction is still "WOW!!!!!!, LOVE IT!!!" and is that Alan Frew? ... and "face face face brave... "stood out" because Face Brave is one of my favourite songs you've ever Written, Corey. Another watch and listen: Love the melody, need to listen to it more times to fully get the "message"... but.... if I don't change something soon, When I'm very old, I'll probably look back on my life and regret not "facing brave" more often.... all the things I haven't done for whatever excuse.... Beautiful song and certainly brings up the feelings I’m having now…getting older and remembering how good I had it as a teen in the 80’s. One of my best memories is of walking the neighborhood on Halloween (probably too old to be doing it!) and singing “Sunglasses at Night”… and I wore them too!

Many of us, perhaps all of us, are at war with ourselves in one way or another. And I think, it's only with age, that we can come to terms with who we are and what we've been through. Life isn't just a destination at the end, where one tallies up some imaginary score - it's a journey of going forward, stumbling back or falling down, and getting back up again. And its far too easy to be scared of those stumbles and of falling down - but they're just part of those questions that you reference, Corey. As long as we take it all in, we may come to some realizations and answers that we need, even if they're not what we expected. But the neat thing is that new questions arise, and there are yet more answers to live towards. We get older and wiser, but we also choose if we get old or stay young in heart and mind.

Corey, I like this song. I have gotten older too and this song made me think of how young I was when I first liked your music. Years later, I'm 55 now and I still like it. But it's a different kind of like I guess. Things are more in depth just like this song. Since I was young, my grandfather died (he took my family in after our father walked out.), the home I grew up in was sold, my mother died and things are different now. It's nice to know that a musician grows too, has those changes too and can still sing songs that are your heart too. I find I am more philosophical now. Thank you for lending your voice to my life.
