I don't get why so many ppl bash so many singers for covering an AIC song. I grew up on them seen them live, and let me tell you, their new material and its so fucking good. Jerry has a unique voice that when combined with Duvall is a great harmony all to itself. But Corey covering is is great. he has so much voice and power to him its amazing. and when you do covers, you make it your own. that's what he did. when anyone covers an AIC song I mostly like it due to the twist put to it. like on the Somewhere In Burbank album Stone Sour just put out, they cover "We Die Young" and its amazing. Layne would be proud. Besides Jerry created AIC. he discovered Layne so for all you out there, think about that when y'all scorn him and say"He should rename the band". What y'all fail to realize is he has kept it alive all this time and resurrected an all-time great in 2009. their dark sound is like none and NO OTHER BAND will EVER come close to it.

I agree with you man but jerry created alice in chains and layne found jerry because at the time he was nearly homeless and layne showed him a place called the music bank which was where layne was living and it was a recording studio with 15 rooms so the new AIC would record there after convincing layne to join the band. back when I wore a younger mans clothes I spent 7 years chasing the dragon...... out of every band I have ever heard and every song I have ever played, there is no one that can conger up the feelings of being in that much pain, better than Layne. The strength of his voice was only matched by the power of his words. Corey is great at his craft and I will follow everything he does till one of us dies but Layne will always be the god of music..... he will never be anything less than THE god of music. So I moved to Waterloo Iowa as a kid in 1980. My dad taught at the High School Cory, and many other Knot members went to. Years later, late 90's early 2000's a buddy of mine brought Cory to a shit hole bar I did an average kareoke show, which means that it was shitty too. I was introduced to Cory,Down to earth kinda guy, would have never guessed he was a famous rocker ya know? Just another Iowa Hump. I told him I wasn't a huge fan of his music, this is shortly before his solo shit, which I'm not that big of a fan of either for that matter. Slipknot is just too busy for me, personally. But good on him because a bunch more people dig it so kudos to Him.He put in a slip to sing Pearl Jam's 'Black'. I wished I had had the better set up so I could have gotten a damn good recording of it. It would have been a cool bootleg. I would have been more impressed had he attempted Layne Staley than Eddie Vetter. I'm a huge Layne fan, he did it justice paying homage to a soulful voice.
