Corey wrote Snuff along with a band mate named Paul Gray, who he credits with really pushing to record the song. Paul later passed away, so every time Corey plays the song, He feels the loss of his friend.

Its already been said, but about a woman he loved who didn't love him. But shortly after this album's tour was over one of the founding members, bassist Paul Gray died. He overdosed, but he was a kind man. Had the pleasure of meeting him 2 times. A true fan himself. It tore Corey up. And I believe the band has dedicated this song to Paul after his passing. ....Edit....I highly recommend you listen to the original as well!

The words are actually written by another man. It’s about the young boy being abused by a priest growing up. However, Corey himself was also abused. He just didn’t write the song. He was asked to sing it by Apolyptica. But, it’s a powerful song. When I’m sinking down the rabbit hole, so to speak, and feelings are almost too much to handle from the memories of the abuse I suffered, I listen to this song. It actually empowers me to climb back from the darkness.

Bury all your secrets in my skin Come away with innocence, and leave me with my sins The air around me still feels like a cage And love is just a camouflage for what resembles rage again... So if you love me, let me go. And run away before I know. My heart is just too dark to care. I can't destroy what isn't there. Deliver me into my fate - If I'm alone I cannot hate I don't deserve to have you... My smile was taken long ago If I can change I hope I never know I still press your letters to my lips And cherish them in parts of me that savor every kiss I couldn't face a life without your lights But all of that was ripped apart when you refused to fight So save your breath, I will not hear. I think I made it very clear. You couldn't hate enough to love. Is that supposed to be enough? I only wish you weren't my friend. Then I could hurt you in the end. I never claimed to be a saint... Ooh, my own was banished long ago It took the death of hope to let you go So break yourself against my stones And spit your pity in my soul You never needed any help You sold me out to save yourself And I won't listen to your shame You ran away - you're all the same Angels lie to keep control... Ooh, my love was punished long ago If you still care, don't ever let me know If you still care, don't ever let me know...

At the same time, it was good that she did, because it was that final push to me figuring out myself. The lyrics are pretty self-explanatory." Definitely check out his Band Stone Sour for sure other band mates of Slipknot are in that band too.

When this song was first made it was about his 1st ex-wife Scarlet. They had a very dark relationship from my understanding. Now after their original bassist (Paul Gray may he rest in pest.) and his passing they now dedicate this song to paul since it was one of his favorites. Although this isn't the only song that was made about Scarlet. Other songs talking about what was going on between them were the songs Vermillion part 1 and Vermillion part 2. I would highly recommend both parts if you want to know a bit more about those two.
