The emotion you're picking up from him is due to the fact this song was his best friend and fellow band member Pual Gray(bassist) favorite song. Unfortunately his friend passed away unexpectedly(accidental overdose). The song is just a strong reminder for him of his friend.

The story of this song is like this; So Corey only writes lyrics for slipknot, not the music. He wrote this song originally about a past relationship but the other guys didn’t like the idea of a soft song in a slipknot album. Only Paul Grey their original bassist backed Corey and was put into the all hope is gone album. Unfortunately Paul passed away tragically, this is why Corey becomes emotional while singing this song. If you read this comment thank you, have a beautiful life and rock on 🤘🏼

The song is technically about a marriage that went very toxic, but the difficulty for Corey comes from the death of Slipknot bassist Paul Gray. Can I request “From Can to Can’t” by Corey Taylor, Rick Nielsen, and Dave Grohl

Nice pick-up DH...it's Both. There is loss of a relationship...and a loss of life. The song started out about a past romantic relationship, and I believe his lifelong friend and bassist from Slipknot actually talked him into putting this song on the album. Then...it was one of the last songs he worked on with Paul. Then he died from an accidental overdose. So lyrically I believe his focus changed afterward. To where he actually focuses some of the lines toward the spirit or memory of Paul, which makes it exude that much more emotion.

Yeah, not really a fan of Slipknot, more a fan of Stonesour, but always loved "Snuff". I've watched several of his live solo performances of this song, and he always put his heart and soul into it. I really think your reaction was pretty spot on,picking up on his guitar playing was pretty valid, most people focus on his vocals, but his guitar work adds to it,has to as it's the only instrument on stage with him. But a positive reaction to a song that doesn't often get reacted to.

As a fellow bass player I would like to recommend Cake's cover to Sabbath's WARPIGS. They rewrote the bass line to the song and added a trumpet accompaniment at the end I also play guitar and trumpet so the overall feel to the song was much different from any other cover I've heard for Warpigs 🦈💨

I can relate to the online haters thing. Sometimes I’ve gotten a lot of negative criticisms from people, depending on what I commented on. Initially I was polite and courteous to those folks. But their only reaction to that was mockery. So I stopped playing nice. By and large I have no desire to go at it all day online like that. But coming back with my own hard lines has worked pretty well. Especially if you come up with something they never expected. When you take them by surprise they may have no reply to give. Otherwise, not a big Slipknot or Stone Sour fan, with the exception of the latter’s “Through Glass”. For me it’s a great tune. When I heard it on the radio at an old job, it made me feel like people are still writing good songs.

I REALLY wish KZbin would notify me that they're going to unblock the video in advance, or at least give me a heads up when they do. Only reason I found out is because I started getting comment notifications about how awesome Corey Taylor is....and I'm sitting here thinking "What are they talking about????" So I check out the comments section...and there it is, in all it's freshly unblocked glory.
