Corgi Mini Cooper. Construction of the 1969 movie gift set, cast model.

Amongst celebrities such as Michael Caine and Benny Hill, three models of Mini Cooper car featured in the film. I was inspired by a canal friend Jerry, who suggested I do such a project. Having three of the same Corgi models in my inventory, I made replicas of these cars from the film. I also made a box with a display insert, where I tried to combine the graphics used by the Corgi company as well as the film posters of the time. I thank you for watching the video, I publish the car repair videos on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Wonderful restoration. The addition of three lamps and the technique used to construct them was absolutely brilliant! For me, the measure of a successful restoration is whether or not I would want to play with them. At 70 years old, some of my friends have suggested that I am entering my 2nd childhood. While I do not know if this is true, I think it is important, especially to appreciate a hobby like this, is to stay in touch with your inner child. I certainly want to play with these restorations. What a fantastic set of Mini's! My brother used to love watching "The Italian Job". He actually bought a right hand drive Mini Cooper from a gentleman in Canada. It had the sliding windows in it. This was back in the 80s and the car was in pieces when purchased. He soon realized he had bitten off more than he could accomplish and had to sell it. We did gain a great deal of knowledge about front wheel drive and hydrostatic suspension. Beautiful cars and a great video.

Brilliant restorations! I notice that the Mini you painted red, had originally been a rally car model - it has the pin for the sump guard on the underside of the engine. I still have one, and always loved that bit of detail. Corgi were great at that sort of thing. 👍👍👍 Your custom box is a work of art! Were the set real, I'd be tempted to buy them simply by seeing the pack. Nice one.

Hello 👋 I spent my childhood in the 1960s. I had a collection of Dinky cars including Corgi and Spot On models. I had a Mini , and it was definitely a Dinky make. It was red with a black roof , and the bonnet opened and so did both door's. It had jeweled headlights. It was very detailed. I sold my cars to an antique shop that sold toys back in the 1990s.

Fantastic job, well done. The spot lights and brackets definitely make these models stand out. Just incase anyone's interested about the vehicles from the film--No minis survived the film although they were 850cc basics that were pushed out of the bus. The bus survived for a while, actually being refitted with seats and taking kids to school in Scotland until it was scrapped in the 90's.. The Aston Martin survives to this day, as it was a mocked up alfa romeo that was pushed over the cliff, also the red E type is still around. Not sure about the blue one but you never know. The lamborgini miura is still around also. They 'borrowed' an identical coloured car to a complete wreck, as they couldn't afford to wreck a lamborgini!! It was subsequently found many years later after being hidden away by a private collector in an underground car park in Paris. Unfortunately the land rover and ford thames mini bus were likely scrapped. Also the crewman waving the minis into the back of the bus was actually the director Peter Collinson, as nobody else had the balls to do it. When Paramount pictures found out about this they went ballistic as he wouldn't have been insured for such a feat and could've jeopardised the whole film. The tunnell sequence was filmed in a partly built sewer in Coventry, Uk, with the stuntman Remy Julienne landing a few minis on their roofs trying to loop the loop!!! Have got all this info from Matthew Fields excellent book about the film and a documentary.

All you need to do now is the rest of the cars. The Fiat police car. Duplexe coach, The Fiat truck carrying the gold and the Greyhound armoured car. If you really wanted to push the boat out you could do the Aston Martin and Jaguar with the bulldozer that they were pushed off the cliff. Oh and not forgetting the little mini bus the fans/robbers travelled in. There that's a project for you...... :). Great restoration again. Keep the good work up.

Я вообще балдею, как модели можно довести до такого состояния? Даже спустя 30 лет. Это где их так надо хранить? Потом продавать на барахолках, чтобы коллекционеры потом их скупали и восстанавливали.
