I'm a teacher librarian and was looking for a good tutorial on how to make book earrings and found your video to be the most appealing to me. Mostly because I've already created a book challenge poster where every book I've finished, I print out the cover and put it on my poster. I absolutely love the idea of mini books in a jar! I've been updating my library's collection and have a ton of old books... I think using some of the old pages of books in these mini books would really be fun. Thanks for sharing this!

I love this idea of using old pages! However, as a vintage book rescuer, I hope you don’t use books that are in good condition! There are many home libraries that would love to have them. ☺️
@danasaavedra1232 Жыл бұрын
@5thgentexan95 many of the books in my library were published in the early 2000s and were sent by book vendors in their own library binding. So, very little value. I understand antique books and am always on the lookout for some. I wouldn't gut an antique book like that!

Just love this tutorial! I'm part of a book club and I plan to make the facilitator a jar with all the books we've read over the last few years up to this point for Christmas. I make the ladies in the club all a different bookmark each year which I give them at our Christmas party that I host. But these books will make the absolute perfect gift for our leader! I plan to make myself a set, too, because they're so cute. THANK YOU for the clear instructions!

Thank you for this useful and clearly instructed tutorial in making miniature books. Loved it. QUESTION: I'd like to print the back cover of books that I want to shrink into miniature sized covers... is this doable? I also don't quite understand the reason for reversing the front cover for the back?
@CorinneBlackstone Жыл бұрын
You reverse it so it looks the same back and front no matter which way it faces in the jar it’s not backwards. Yes if you can find images of the back covers you could shrink them

I mean I get it but I can't assume they would be gone. They have been around for along time. And if the website goes away I just make a new video showing how to do it with another site.
@lurkerrekrul Жыл бұрын
@@CorinneBlackstone That wasn't a dig at you. It's just that I see more and more people relying on online sites to do stuff, but there's no guarantee that those sites will always be there. Of the websites I've relied on over the years for looking up information on various topics, I've seen a bunch of them just disappear. I'm not an artist and I generally don't make stuff like this (I like miniature stuff though, it's cute), but when I need to do something with graphics, I generally prefer to rely on using local, preferably free, software. There's probably not a program specifically for making miniature book covers, but the same thing could be done with other graphics programs. As a plus, I can think of a couple ways that this could be done in batches so that once the covers are saved, they could be resized and/or flipped all at once. I understand that not everyone wants to learn to use such programs and they just want to use what's convenient. I'm just a big believer in having the tools you use be always available locally. Call me old fashioned. :)
@tiramisudragon4 ай бұрын
@@lurkerrekrul Get where you're coming from but telling her that she's the problem isn't really it. She's actually done something incredibly helpful by telling you the dimensions for the book itself. There are programs that you could use that data with in terms of the sizing. This is still a very useful tutorial even though it's specifically for canva. You just need to apply what you're learning to your local program of choice. (I'm probably going to be doing this on my phone via IbisPaint, so I may have a bit of an uphill battle on my hands)
