I recently harvested a bagful of these from a standing dead tree in a remote part of Arkansas. I shred one or two of them into small pieces and steep them in boiling hot water. It makes a surprisingly pleasant and mildly sweet hot beverage without the typical mushroomy flavor.

Wayne Warmack you might also soak the fresh ones in a ball jar, covered in 100 proof vodka for eight weeks. That will last indefinitely, and you'll get both the alcohol soluble and water soluble properties from it.

I have graduated from medical school in far east and practiced here in USA in oncology. While there are some studies done in 'cancer cell cultures', the cell culture is not adequate treatment evaluation as it is in actual living body. He refers to NK activities and extrapolate into actual benefits. In Japan, as well as Korea, China, the traditional therapy is rampant for various reasons especially because it is traditional. They often claim the use by mythical herbalist many years ago, but did we not come a long way since then? As this man puts the sort of disclaimer at the end, it should be used with the extreme caution only. While most mushroom therapy is benign, there are rare fatal liver failures reported with medicinal mushrooms. I personally was involved in one patient who fully recovered from NHL following bone marrow transplant, but died from certain fungal infection later proven to come from nutritional yeast extract that he took, by the advices from family members. If your immune system is impaired from your disease or treatments, please do not take that chance. We need real studies and ways to purify these extracts.

@mikeymoo1291I agree with the essence of what you're saying but doctors are quick to prescribed many medications off-label or for another use than they were tested for. Example was my old doctor gave me anti-seizure medication which he said was found to be effective for relieving back pain. My father's doctor did the exact same giving him an antidepressant which was found to help people with sleep issues. You get the point... The small set of healing medicines called Adaptogens does not trigger negative effects in the bodies systems, logically these should be utilized first by ALL doctors/healers as they do they least harm while inducing the most amount of widespread positive effects. If these gentle healers are not effective than man made pharmaceuticals should be introduced. Nothing in medicine is based in Reason,Logic or Love these days just keeping the system going and everyone paid.

Some extraction specifics would have been nice. For instance. Turkey Tail tea should NOT be hotter than 80 C. Over 80 C degrades active compounds.

one of the easiest and tastiest ways to ingest wild Turkey Tail is to "cold brew" it with coffee...just put the two together in water and let it sit overnight...heat, filter and enjoy the rich taste and benefits...you can also dry it, grind it and sprinkle on pasta for a truffle like experience...

@SuperLuiz52
@SuperLuiz52 3 жыл бұрын
Base level is the starting point. I have a strong immune system because i excercise, eat healthy, and think positevely. Therefore you could say my base level immune system is a 20. In the other hand , Gary doesnt excercise, eats healthy and thinks negatively so you could say his base immune system is a 10. Chemo and other cancer treatments or illness bring that base level down. While turkeytail and other medicines bring it up.

The mainstream doctors gave my ex-wife a 98% chance of full recovery from the tiny tumor they found, they couldn't believe how 'fortunate' she was. From her time working at a 'health food' store she claimed all they wanted was money, and decided 'natural' was the way to go. She was big on mushroom teas. My daughter and I miss her every day. Turkey Tail is among the 3 most common fungi we see on our frequent walks in the woods and they no longer bring me the joy they once did. They just remind me of one who shouldn't have left us so soon. Do not substitute Trametes for real medical treatment.
