Yoo DEHH! Much love for how u all are giving the oportunity for the new school on your reviews and glad to see that the Classic ones have a place there to. Continue that work, u guys are for sure the best out there reviewing hip hop. Keep it truth! And one more thing fellas, try not to sleep on Mick Jenkins. The kid is fire, from chi-town! Try to support his last mixtape ( Water[s] ), is such a dope work. Def one of the best mixtapes since Acid Rap. Bet lot of people would like a review on that! And just got to say... Joey Bada$$ just bodies the last track.

I take a slight offense to that young cat statement. I'm 24 now but I've been listening to Little Brother, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Common, and other grown man artists since I was 15 in the tenth grade. I remember my sophomore year in high school pretty much all I listened to that year was The Minstrel Show, The Listening, and Late Registration the entire year on my CD player. Hadn't gotten an iPod yet lol. All the artists I mentioned plus Kanye have been some of my favorite rappers of all time since high school. Hell, I really got deep into hip hop through Little Brother.

Thank you for this discussion. I went and listened to Industry. I'm so old school - I'm pre-school. I loved it. I have already posted the video to my facebook wall. I could add some thoughts regarding his association with Min. Farrakhan in the video and the use of the hat and images of money from a visual perspective that supports the idea that his message is very TIMELY!

And again I agree with Myke, when people react to an album that talks about pressing issues by sayin' it's "too preachy"...makes the artist not wanna talk about the issues. That's what happened with Lupe, some critics claimed his last album was "preachy'.

Who cares if it's only 30 minutes long. I'd rather listen to a 30 minute album where they actually have a message on each song, then an hour of someone just talking rubbish on every single song. Quality over quantity any day. That's what's a lot of rappers are lacking these days. Most rappers just throw a load of random shit on an album without any real concept.
@KidKapamTv
@KidKapamTv 10 жыл бұрын
i care if its only 30 min just because its quality with a message dosent mean it should be less then like an hour
@dannystevens2900
@dannystevens2900 10 жыл бұрын
Kid Kapam I don't think you got the point of what I was saying. I'd be more then happy for it to be over an hour if it had quality songs, but most of the time rappers just have too many filler tracks which are average at best.
@KidKapamTv
@KidKapamTv 10 жыл бұрын
you probably have more broader horizons then me but the few rappers i listen to barley have any filler songs whatsoever in there whole catalog at least in my opinion, but I'm disappointed in any album that can't give me like 50 mins at least of all quality music

Fair do's. A lot of the albums I've been hyped for this year have been disappointing. So far this is one of the best I've heard and Statik Selektah's will most likely be brilliant as well.

TheVideoInvader Lol yeah I just looked it up and like you said, the delivery of that line was SHITTY. The line itself isn't all that deep like Myke said BUT, it's kinda "weird" how the two correspond with each other. Not dissing dudes who sag, but from what I witnessed from the environment I was accompanied by, majority of dudes who do, indeed posses that mentality.
