Down south we don't use sugar. We either serve with honey or serve it in a mug with milk

Mr OSP adds honey...I think i'll try it without the sugar next time but it may have helped with the good chewy edges...of course the bacon grease might have helped too😎

It's a favorite of mine too! I had one that was my Grandmother's but it was inadvertently broken by Mr OSP so he tracked down another for me...Estate Sale I believe.

what do you mean you reconstituted the milk ? I rebel can milk because I seldom use milk, but I assume you do not rebel can ? Its nice for me to get a pint from the pantry and chill it for a bowl of cereal them vac reseal cereal for next time.

hi Mike, I meant that I added the water back into the evaporated (commercially canned) milk. I needed more volume so just using the straight evaporated milk wouldn't have worked for me, so a can of evap milk and a can of water is fully reconstituted. As you know I lean toward sciences of cooking (love a good experiment) so I tend to stick toward the canning rules...BUT after memorizing most of the rules I've realized that some of the rules are stupid and/or make no sense. it's those times I will be a 'rebel' canner. so I guess i'm a rule follower that thinks and strays from time to time :)
