I have a triangular pill without cutting lines, what to do?
@OldSchoolPrepper8 сағат бұрын
tricky, you really will want to use a pill cutter or a knife (last resort) you can't do it with just your fingers....if it had a line (was scored) you could but otherwise it's just going to fall apart. If you can't cut it yourself then you can weigh the pill, break it apart the best you can and then consume half the weight. You only want to do this will NON-Extended release pills and pills that do NOT have an enteric coating. some pills directly say "do not crush" so you'll want to look that up if you can first. If you do decide to crush the pill and it's ok to do so then your scale needs to weigh in grams because ounces are too large. Good Luck!

@@OldSchoolPrepper thks for the fast response! I guess I will just get a Pill Splitter (those that have a triangular groove and a cutting blade hinge)

i know! it's far cheaper to use the seeds than buy the crowns...if I plant the seeds then I get a small crown next year and in 2 years a crown big enough to give a couple spears. The berry method is great if one plants on keeping a patch in the same area.

I do something similar but I bury them. Leaving on the surface just invites all kinds of bugs I don't want in my area like leaf footed b***ards and stinkbugs. I usually only grow Clemson spineless okra and it works for me. Does get woody when they get longer than 3 inches though so you really gotta pick every day. It's all about quantity
@OldSchoolPrepperКүн бұрын
I will bury these when I top of the beds, I agree that's a recipe for fruit flys and various critters. thanks for the lead on the Okra, I've heard from several other gardeners that Clemson is a good one

I love how many garden plants "re-seed" This year we had 4 huge tomato plants pop up in our newest fruit orchard between trees. Also nearly every year we have had several Giant sunflowers show up in odd areas of the garden. Tomatillos are great for showing up as are several different squash and pumpkins. Thanks for sharing your experience and I love that you allow nature or " natural planting" to take it's course!

I was looking thru your playlists. Songs to cry by is a pretty dark list. Ever listen to concrete blonde s bloodletting album ? Joey ? caroline ? the whole album is awesome. in your audio book list ,you ever listen to michael crighton's book prey ? state of fear ?
@OldSchoolPrepper3 күн бұрын
some old lists for sure...Of course I love Concrete Blonde but it's been years, I need to revisit. I do like the old dark stuff best....of course I am Gen X so there's that. I've read most of Crichton and my online library has a killer audiobook (downloadable) selection that I can listen to while I garden/work ... so I really only add to the KZbin list when i can't find things elsewhere...you've added some great music suggestions I need to give some of the oldies a good listen, Do you like Disturbed? They really broke back out with their Sound of Silence...great band and pretty good vids.

a pint of carrots looks like a lot of carrots to eat for 2 in one meal ? How long will leftovers go in the fridge ? I guess left overs could be frozen ? For me its about having them in house and shelf stabile til opened. Is there another veg with similar processing time that could go 1/2 and 1/2 ish in a pint that might get used up quicker in pantry rotation ? potatos ? I am not a big carrot eater but reforming 🙂 . Thinking of canning different combos shelf stabile to make or extend soups, stews or over rice etc
@OldSchoolPrepper3 күн бұрын
yea, it can be a lot of carrots but being a scratch cook what i don't eat today will go into a dish tomorrow. do a pint of carrots is about 2 cups...that is a lot as a side dish...but some for a side and then some in stew/soup/ even a quick pickle to add to taco's/burritos...added to a curry, stir fry., even added to a green salad. good point on the amount tho...yes they can be frozen and will keep 5 plus days in the fridge. I forgot to mention about the playlists that the Songs to Cry was made by someone else, I just stole it...but i did make one just called Music, I think you'd dig it too esp if you're Gen x too (which I think you are.) First song is "Black Bird Song" by DeWyze

I clearly don't understand one thing... See when we switch on the flame the pressure in the pressure gauge is zero right?? In the manual it says 12 pounds pressure for 90 mins.. does that mean 0-12 psi for 90 mins or i should wait until it reaches 12psi and i should maintain 12 psi for 90 mins?
@OldSchoolPrepper7 күн бұрын
hi Metalhead, the second option...a MINIMUM of 12# PSI for you (for me it's 11#) for 90 mins (like for meat most recipes are less than 90 mins but meat is 90). If your PSI drops below the min then you need to get back up to the 12PSI and start timing all over again ... boo!
