The way the girl in the back round asked the questions and talked about Ella annoyed me so much smh. I loved the way Cornel talked and explained Ellas story. He couldnt have said it better, shes just amazing and extremely underrated 😔💜💜💜

Cornel West is confused. He actually tried to debate Dr. JOHN HENRIK CLARKE

I think what Dr. West ment when he said Ella Baker was [leaderless] but [Leaderful] is that Ella did not think it was sufficient to have a single leader telling everybody what to do ,but Teach others to become leaders so the community can lead themselves by motivation and setting examples which i think makes a more productive and powerful force to be reckoned with..Because traditionally the system of Whitesupremacy could easily bring a movement down by simply taking out the person at the top..But Ella Bakers vision of Collective leadership would make it much more difficult to stop a successful revolution because everyone would know what to do. Instead of relying on a [single] person..which a revolution is never about, its always about the Collective, which means the Collective has to be [Empowered] to create a successful Revolution..I think that was the genius of (Ella Bakers) vision.

Self-direction and grassroots actions is pointless when it's a part of conscious, definite movement. Grass-root action can only be beneficial if it is spontaneous and ad-hoc, the kind that comes from a self sustaining culture that builds things that are valuable to everyone. True grass roots movement can only come from a self distinguishing culture in response to different challenges, never the other way around. If there is no self sustaining, valuable culture that informs a society, then whateer response can only be a reaction that sits well within the culture dictated by broader society.

SpeedStriker break this down for me my good friend. Sounds like it’s excellent. Lol

@@ScoutsHonor. I really crammed a lot into a couple of sentences, huh? The main point is that since grassroot movements are valuable because they are started by individuals, sustained by individuals and composed of individual people representing themselves, doesn't formal leadership or effort for top down organisation just negate the whole idea? But at the same time, I don't believe collectivism is always bad or that spontaneous grassroots movements can't produce positive collective efforts or results, so the only way collective action created hy grassroots movements can be meaningful AND effective is if people who are a part of them are driven by something that is deeper than not only their movement, but even than the culture and constraining cultural context of the times they live in. In other words, real, living, culture and values, that inspires people to act in according to timeless principles. The Gospel is a good example of this, and another is the ever resilient Chinese cultural legacy and identity. Anything more shallow than that just isn't deep or broad enough to fully allow every person to be an individial, and on that front, I think even Chinese culture is a little lacking compared to Christianity. Everything else is just child's play and chaff that will be carried away by the winds of time. But more importantly, anything else just wouldn't be grassroots, and inevitably lean toward authoritarianism and collectivism.

SpeedStriker ok I see perfectly what you’re saying. I think grass roots is most beneficial for long term though and hierarchy is good for seasons. Simple fact that people are critical of others, they also have different beliefs. So like MLK and MALCOLM X, it causes people to choose sides. But there is a middle ground. Hierarchy doesn’t allow that, it only knows good or bad. With the biggest point is that when these King’s or Queens die the people hope diminishes, their motivation, their purpose and etc. it all goes with the head huncho. Now people are looking around like “what we do now?”
