As someone who has studied the CRM, I greatly appreciate the effort that this video has made in educating new generations about this legendary woman. She is, without a doubt, the bedrock that helped the movement succeed. I will be using this video to educate middle schoolers within the next month, and I am so grateful to be able to share this with them. GO ELLA BAKER!!!

I had the honor of writing my thesis on her in college. I know I can't do the full justice of her character in just 37 pages, but I am happy that I had the chance to write about such an amazing woman. The fact that she is not elevated on a pedestal is a travesty.

Is your paper public ? I’m doing an essay comparing reconstruction & the civil rights movement and I want to write about her as she is basically the mother of the civil rights movement and I want to understand that movement better :)

@@lemmy6465 Sadly, not at the moment (as far I as I know). I plan to edit a bit, but if you would like to, I can send you some sources to work with. I can send you a list of monographs that I used.

I consider H.L.G. Jr. a clown 🤡 and joker 🃏. When it comes to our struggle.... However, Ella Baker my sister appeared to have more heart than most so-called "Black Christian Men Leaders" @ that time ⏲.... I'm glad she had the spirit to fight her enemies physically too.... if needed be..... All the civil rights Black Men Leaders during that time needed Ella Baker's go to war spirit and never, ever turn your cheek to your open oppressor..... I respect her for that very much 👏🏿... May Allah reward her for her heart and service to our people.....

Ella Ella the mother of the White guilt movement

Naw, "white' people have had a guilt complex for millenia.

In more recent times however, the 400-500 years of enslavement and unsolved oppression still resonates in collective white unconcious. But this was far before Ella called it out. Perhaps when white people started trying to justify the destruction and enslavement of millions through anti-black idealogy now deeply baked within 'white' western culture. 'White' people enslaved and gained unfair advantage through the subjugation of African people and then tried to make it seem not as bad as the terrorism it was: guilty consciences bearing witness.
