I love Iris ! She is the best mother and the best fisherwoman! I remember how 3 years ago she managed to save her chick when the father of the family couldn't catch anything in the very muddy river at the time!

I remember when Louis not give fisk to dem whole Day. The chic was hungry and she left the nest late evening and come with big fisk. She give the food to the chic and rest of food eat herself. She is very hardworker and devoted mother. She cuddel her chic very much. I hope Louis never come back and she can find another mate this season.

@@vimlarajput7881 Yes, I remember that hard day very well ! Unfortunately Luis is not very responsible. Maybe he has another girlfriend and is trying to court both at the same time? That happens sometimes with ospreys. In case the catch of fish is poor, then the male usually abandons one of the females.

I thought i would have one last check before i went to bed & there she was bless her at 16.10pm.so glad to see her fit & well. me & my mum love her to bits & will enjoy watching her again for another season...

I hope we don't have to watch all of Iris' chicks starve to death again. After that year, I never watched this nest again. That year there was constant rain and her new mate wouldn't fish or bring any food to the nest for days. Iris wouldn't leave the chicks and she had to watch one die and then another and finally her last one died also of starvation as they begged until they couldn't cry out any longer. It was horrific! Hate to bring all you people down that are so excited but I don't remember poor Iris having a whole lot of luck raising her chicks many times. I hope she has a better time of it this year but unless she finds a dedicated mate she will end up in the same position. I think her last mate ended up abandoning the nest completely and may have had another nest he was caring for. I remember watching the male sitting over the river day after day trying to will him to fish but he wouldn't. It was very sad and disturbing to watch those chicks die and they were already getting big and NOBODY stepped in to save them. I don't want to hear that "this is nature" and all of that. There are many cams watched where people step in to save already partly grown chicks but here they don't and since they don't they should not put this cam on the internet. That's my opinion. There was no need for that to happen while everyone watched them chicks suffer like that and Iris suffered as well when the chicks could have been taken out of the nest and hand reared and then released! I don't think I'll be watching this nest again this season. It always ends up being too sad!

Yes I agree, someone needs to go put a fish for her and her babies if he ends up sucking again. If I were closer I’d do it myself! There’s nothing wrong with supplementing, lots of people do it to help out other creatures and that’s how it should be! Zoos and wildlife rescues intervene so there’s no reason why we shouldn’t!

The first year he came was so funny watching him bringing sticks in for the nest & Iris always had to duck or get hit by them . He used to misjudge landing too & land on Iris Once he was tiding the sticks from middle of nest & put them on the side but once fell off the side in doing so...

@@TinkerTailor4303 Plastic water bottles never go away. They exist forever and ever. Iris is how old now? Over 25? Every spring for the last several years I keep thinking she won't be back because she's so old. But here she is! She's like a plastic water bottle - she goes on forever. ☺
