I couldn't decide so both ended up on my board. They cover more than I could possibly think of

Two of the best drive pedals out there. I own the protein and love it, especially the blue side. My gladio is coming in tomorrow and I’m excited! The gladio, the ceriatone centura and Browne protein will be the drive pedals that make it to my board.

Both terrific sounding pedals. Beautiful aesthetically as well. The Protein is my desert island “if I could only have one drive that is actually two drives that stack to make three drives” pedal.

They are both excellent and great video! I liked the Gladio, it suits my rig/sound better and love the internal trim pots that add another level of adjustment! Great job Cornerstone!

I love the protein! It’s my main drive for some time now. I ask Dave to modify it though and he wouldn’t haha. I would like to see a bass cut switch/bass knob on the green side and order switch for more versatility and to work with other drives for more flavors. But as is, still amazing and love it!
@JacksonBrooksby3 жыл бұрын
There isn’t much the protein can’t do. And you gotta respect Dave sticking to his guns 😉 at the end of the day it’s kind of a signature pedal so I can understand them wanting to keep it stock

Really enjoy your videos. I'd have to go with the Protein. Sounded clearer and less compressed to me.

Recently picked up the Protein to pair with my Magnatone Panoramic. Originally I was thinking about sell the Magnatone but the Protien is so good I've reconsidered. Yes, the Protein is THAT good.

One thing that isn't apparent in this video is how awesomely the Gladio plays well with other pedals. It stacks with something else running/pushing into the frontend. I run mine on fairly low gain with an Austone Millenium Overdrive in front and a Kingsley Page TS behind and that's the sound. It also sounds great with a Kingsley Minstrel in front. And yes, I'm probably gonna go get a Protein anyway.

Great vid but after lots of testing on all these pedals I went for the Kasleder Toxic Twins I felt like it was slightly better than the protein especially on the green side. You should try it as I think you might have one of those light bulb moments like I did.

It seems weird to compare these two pedals. They are two completely different pedals for two completely different purposes, IMO. I’ve had both and ultimately got rid of both. Nothing wrong with either of them, they just didn’t suit my purposes. Still, completely different, sound completely different, so completely different things.

The Protein seems better for rhythm playing and the Gladio for leads. The Gladio tends to mush out a bit on the low end. For future videos it would be great if you could have an overlay of the current settings so you can see how the pedal is set during the video instead of just very short cuts to your board.
@deadtothewxrld2 жыл бұрын
The best sound to my ears here is the Protein ODR-1 side. However, IMO the worst sound is the other side of the protein lol... I think I just need a good ODR-1 style pedal
@ampgent11 ай бұрын
Just spend the money a Vemuram ODS-1. You won’t regret the investment. I spent a lot of time and money trying a bunch of OdR-1 clones and it was the winner.
@ampgent11 ай бұрын
It’s funny because I had the opposite experience and found a ODR-1 pedal I liked WAY better than Protein’s green side. Sold the protein, and now saving up for Browne Carbon (the standalone blue side). Not saying Protein green side was bad at all…some of my pals absolutely loved it.

Well, on this video I’ll choose the protein over the gladio. I don’t know if its because of the speaker I’m using but I hear the gladio kind of too dark and even muddy sometimes. I don’t know if it’s the way you dialed it. I hear way more clarity and note definition on the protein specially on the left side. For lead or arpeggios both sounded great to me. For chords didn’t like the gladio too much. Sorry I say this but, I like much more the tones of the gladio on RJ Ron… demo. I know that’s a matter of taste, not saying your demo isn’t good. Your videos are great!! It’s just that the way you dialed the tones it’s not my favorite. Great for lead but I prefer more clarity for chords, maybe more treble I guess. Anyways. On this video I choose the protein.
@cornerstonegear3 жыл бұрын
I think much is due to how the internal trimmers are set. There's 2 internal trimmers to control the Bass (of channel 1) and the Treble (of channel 2). Those two deeply affect the overall tone...
@ramilrodriguez83403 жыл бұрын
@@cornerstonegear good to know. I felt like there was a wider range of tonalities based on other demos I watched. I guess other guys have moved those trim pots or just dialed the pedal with the tone knobs higher. Your pedal is very very good. It’s great. Blessings.
@ramilrodriguez83403 жыл бұрын
I believe that when somebody makes a demo or a shootout between pedals that person needs to move the pedal knobs all the way to each side and dial even extreme bright, or extreme dark, or all gain, etc., going out of just his or her preferred settings. That way audience may appreciate the range or capabilities of the pedal and, you know, there is a wide variety of tastes. Dialing different tones, even when you as the performer don’t like, you may appeal to somebody else’s taste.
