Why Do Pastors Ask For Money? | Hard Questions

Why do pastors and churches always seem to talk about or ask for money? Shouldn’t that be a personal decision? If I go, I give what I feel I have. If I don’t go, then I don’t think I should be made to feel that I should still give.

I stopped going to church because they were always asking for money. Sad but true. I went to five or six different born-again churches and at some point, they always asked the people for money, and it was always in a manipulative way. It made me feel sick. the poor and needy giving away their money and doing without, thinking this was making God happy when the pastor was staying five-star resorts on holidays.

Jesus said i want your heart not your money.. he only want us to be away from sins... so we may be with him in heaven... jesus preach by walking by foot...he dint lay his head on comfortable pillow..to take rest... this is the biggest example...

The issue is that most pastors could easily be bi-vocational, but they don't want to. I don't understand churches that spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on multiple pastoral salaries each year when it's the pastor's job to equip the saints to do the work of the ministry, not the pastor's job to do everything for the people. Also, I am a bi-vocational pastor myself. I work 60 hours a week as a teacher at a public school.

Most pastors out there treat pastoring as their career to earn a living just like doctors, lawyers, accountants, engineers, politicians, etc… They are not there to serve God and their local communities but to make a living. There are very few churches/pastors out there that don’t ask for money every Sunday. When I say “They don’t ask for money”, I mean they don’t pass the offering plates/baskets in the congregation during church service. Instead, there’s a donation box at the back of the congregation where people can voluntarily give money if they choose to. In other words, people are not expected to give during the Sunday morning service.

personally I think the format is over. with lockdowns in the world and open animosity towards us. believers are going straight to God BIBLICALLY. I like the questions and answers sections some of the more honest preachers are having. people can ask anything and many of them are schooled in Greek, etc and often people ask them difficult stuff, then it becomes interesting. I wonder when Amir Tsarfati will have another such. I also like DR Andy Woods. very scholarly, but I think he does ask for monetary support. also does Amir. JD Farag does not on sound biblical principal. suddenly a few preachers have come to the fore who really divides the bible well - with zero female prophetesses spewing their word salads where you wait and wait and you realise this was HER and her own emotions. saying the Lord put it upon my heart or whispered in my ear or my bible fell open. the prophets I old are becoming clearer.

I sometimes listen to the preachers on TBN because I want to hear about Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father but it seems like all their sermons lead to asking for money. And they don't ask for 10% of what you make like the Bible says they ask for hundreds/thousands and then I find out they live in mansions. Jesus was the best preacher ever and yes OUR SAVIOR too and he didn't have a place to sleep in he had a rock for a pillow. He asked the rich man to give his riches to THE POOR I don't think he meant to give it to preachers so they can live in mansions. So maybe now Jesus is asking the preachers to give all they have to the poor hmm would they do it? I wouldn't mind sending money to the poor but how much really goes to them? I pay my tithing 10% because I know it goes to our own poor people and others etc.

Always remember this God does not need your money. He does on the other hand want you to be blessed. Giving money doesn’t help God it helps you. An giving to a ministry that feeds the poor helps the sick takes care of widows an elderly. An all around does good things for the kingdom of God. Then by giving to that ministry you in turn are associated an receive the blessing that come. So don’t let a few bad apples that are greedy ruin your blessings God loves you.

which ministry of the thousands do you choose. have noticed this word of faith in their first few sentences they will mention Finances. if you love God with all your heart you will fight for souls . not overseas in a jet... that one standing in front of you in a shop. why the many titles? Paul was Paul. something so off but God bless them since He DID say It is Finished. so confess with your mouth and believe in your heart and all that admin will go away, the accountant, the staff and we wait for our glorious hope.

Please enlighten me,,. This church members were faithful to their giving (tithes & sacrificial), but majority of these members were poor so their tithes and offerings were small in total. The pastor always preach to them to give more, even boasting everything he did for them, he even boast how Christ gave all to the cross. He knows how these poor members are struggling in their daily life but this pastor always torture them about giving in pulpit most of the time. Please share your thoughts. Thank you

I have been following Christian people on Instagram and some of them are asking money to come to my church to preach. They asked for travel, and also to provide them a hotel. Thats understandable but again why money to preach a word of God? Are they preaching because they love Jesus or they want money?

Religion is man made. Being a Christian isn’t. You’re just following Christ. You don’t have a to attend a church to follow Christ. He’s already in you, you just have to meet him half way. Ask and ye shall receive. Search for the truth and you will find it. I pray that our Heavenly Father leads you to the truth. There’s lots of copies out there, which sometimes can seem hard to see the truth but by the grace of God you’ll find it, If you really want it.
