you should pin this. i'm sure you will listen to their other stuff. i really love "world domination" as an album - but none of my absolute favorites are on it. "choose me", "blooming" and "screaming" are amongst my favs - and you have listened to them - the 3 first tracks on their youtube-premiere. so - yes, go for it, their output is absolutely stellar fans can argue that they want, which song is the best one or which member is the most popular - all of them get equal love, respect and admiration. it's pretty damn balanced also check their background story - Miku (esp, imo) deserves all the respect she gets

BAND-MAID, is a rock band that combines a hard rock sound with a maid image modeled on Japanese maid cafés.The band was formed by singer/guitarist Miku Kobato, formerly an employee of a Japanese maid café. She visualized forming a band that juxtaposed the maid image with rock music. Kobato recruited lead guitarist Kanami Tōno after an Internet search. Kanami had performed in an acoustic band called Rice-cakes and Cheese and suggested her drummer Akane Hirose for the new band. Akane in turn recommended bassist Misa, whom she met while attending the Toyko School of Music. The band then decided to recruit an additional lead singer and selected Saiki Atsumi during auditions.

Anemone on this album actually is becoming one of my favorite band-maid songs. The sudden energy flow after whisperly, restrained vocal is necessary. I understand the Japanese lyrics, so I know how the protagonist in this story holds back the loneliness and longing for the other person so much, the harder she tries to suppress her emotions, the stronger the yearning gets. It only has to burst at some stage. She is in love with someone she can't get. The entire band, instrumentality and vocally, are telling the story.

Trivia: the one singing on the 7th song, Rock In Me, is Miku, the rythm guitarist/ backing vocals. This is to give their main vocalist Saiki to get some rest especially during their concerts.

Make sure to also check out their alternate personalities mini album Band Maiko. What started as an April fools joke exploded into a phenomenon. They took a handful of their songs, Screaming and Anemone included, added traditional Japanese instruments and Miku rewrote the lyrics in the old Kyoto Japanese dialect.

The interesting thing about Band-Maid is not just their musicianship but their goofy personalities and all 5 members’ creed to not be outdone by each other and yet remain wonderfully gelled. You may be interested to know that depending on which fan you speak to, this album is arguably the 3rd best after Conqueror and Just Bring It because those are more colorful and varied. If you want non-stop loud and had and fast all the wAy, then World Domination. The slimmest of margins in any case. It will not be rare at all to have fans tell you there are at least 80 good to awesome songs (ie. All of them). And NOONE can agree on what their best 20 songs are. For example, Daydreaming and Anemone are the favorite songs of many a fan, but those that swear by heavy music are less likely to have them in their top 40.

Huh... Two hours of awesome music and insightful comments. It's the first podcast I've listened to in my life 😂 Could not disengage myself from my headphones 🤘 BAND-MAID has revolutionized my life. I have never been so much attached to any musical band before, in my entire life of 50 years. I became Metallica fan at the age of 14, then I travelled through a lot of classical rock, like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath, then there was a period of prog rock in my life, like King Crimson, Van der Graaf Generator and Pink Floyd, with wonderful digressions like The Doors, Sex Pistols, etc. And almost two years ago I have discovered BAND-MAID, and my life has never been the same ever since. There was never a music I would wish to spend my money on, and with BAND-MAID, I gladly throw thousands upon thousands of dollars on disks, merch, and live shows, and consider myself honoured. What's unique about BAND-MAID, is that they are not only wonderful musicians, they are also amazing people. I remember when I read a book about Metallica, I wished I would have never opened it. I firmly decided that I will never try to read about my favourite artists anymore, because in most cases it leaves a feeling of disgust, what they do in real life. But with BAND-MAID, I want to know more about them, and the more I learn about their personas, the more I love their music. Miku Kobato, who is the founder of the band, is my role model. Her unfailing optimism, perseverance, absolute selflessness and high spirit is like a beacon of light for me in this depressing world. BAND-MAID saves lives!

@@jeremaya2 When this pandemic is over, definitely try to go and see them live. BAND-MAID is better live, all fans recognize it. Currently, there is their new Blu-Ray/DVD for the recent live performance on sale: bandmaidshop.com/band-maid-music.html I sincerely recommend to buy it. The shipments are on hold, though, and while waiting for your parcel to arrive, you can listen and watch it here: www.dropbox.com/sh/oouzfmkkynhx0u8/AADoVzmkjbkemb1hPfp_v93Aa?dl=0 It was uploaded by a fan to KZbin yesterday, and was immediately taken down by the label, but I managed to save it to my PC. I intend to watch it many, many times, while waiting for my shipment to arrive, which will probably happen not early than the end of May. I watched it yesterday, and some parts of it have just knocked me out of my socks. Akane's drum solo in Freedom just ripped me to shreds. It also includes, in the end, some bonus material: a documentary on how they did rehearsals before that show. That one is also very interesting.

@VladimirChupin
@VladimirChupin 4 жыл бұрын

I can't believe I listened to the whole thing, but I guess it was entertaining enough to keep my attention, so good job. Yes, this was my pick for 2018 album of the year. It's a monster from start to finish. Akane is a f***ing beast, and while they're all amazing, she really puts them over the top as far as I'm concerned. A band is only as good as its drummer after all. By the way, Honey was originally released on a Mucc tribute album, so it wasn't designed as part of the World Domination experience, but it's a great cover so they included it as a bonus track because why not? It's also a bonus track on the cd, not just on Spotify.

Check out their official KZbin. They'll be showing an edited/digested version of their latest Blu-ray/DVD of their Valentine's Day World Domination Tour concert on this 30th April. The Blu-ray/DVD is available for purchase and will be released today (29th April) I'm waiting for my copy 😊 Glad you enjoyed them and trust me when I say they're more amazing live 😻🤘

Hope you guys will figure it out 😊 fyi, track nmbr 7 Rock in Me was actually sung by the band founder, our beloved Ms. Pigeon, instead of the band's vocalist. In concerts, when this song is performed, it's actually to give their vocalist a bit of time to rest because their concerts are two and half hours long and more than 20 songs.

Darryl Willie It is honestly a great track, i can understand why they’d play it live. Also thanks for the fun facts, helps a long way.

You might as well do the albums before and after because they are just as good! Also, check out the live videos! OMG they are amazing live! This is truly the most rocking band around right now. The skill level is so good, the stage presence is amazing and the composition/mixing is fantastic. I actually don't think Conqueror (next album) has as many fast pace songs but one song makes up for it! Rine (Reincarnation). Akane I think got up to 190bpm. Speaking of Reincarnation, Jimmy Page supposedly told Akane that she's the reincarnation of John Bonham. There's also a song produced by Tony Visconti (producer for David Bowie and many more). I'ts also all in English.

@@jeremaya2 It's definitely a myth, but a legitimate one. Jimmy Page was indeed impressed with Akane and asked her for a photo together. Akane said, she was starstruck and promised that she will do her best. These are facts as she has formulated them in an interview and on her Twitter. The rest is speculation. Of course, we as fans do know the level Akane is at. And many of the BAND-MAID fans also know Led Zeppelin very well, and appreciate what John Bonham was doing. I'm personally a great fan of Led Zeppelin. And who isn't? But I should say that Akane is a level above John Bonham, although I know that for some it would sound sacrilegious. For me, though, there is nothing wrong in being better than the great ones of the past. Moreover, that's only natural that the scions are better than the sires. Otherwise, civilization would not develop. Akane is actually not so much a reincarnation of John Bonham for me, as the reincarnation of Michael Giles from the first line-up of King Crimson, or of Guy Evans from Van der Graaf Generator. Check out this video, for example: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHirkqdtfsqBl6M That's the drummer who is closest to Akane in style, in my opinion. Given that at the time they sometimes did not have money to buy food, it's amazing what Guy Evans was able to do with his very simple drum kit. It's almost the same setup as Akane was using at the start, except for the double kick pedal, which was not yet invented in 1972.

Evren G.Nez A lot of the Band-Maid fans have different tastes. If a band can show of different musical talents, it just shows how great they are crafting music and to me that is amazingly talented.

That was a joke, of course. Even now I listen to a lot of other music. Well... Not a lot, to be honest. One other living band, which definitely can stand next to BAND-MAID and not feel ashamed, is ASTERISM. They have three albums so far, and they have posted them all on KZbin: kzbin.info/door/hW49WDAfg2slMaak9Q0Aywplaylists (check the playlists for "Albums and Singles"). It's an instrumental band, but man, they are amazing. HAL-CA the guitarist is a force of nature, a volcano erupting and exploding. Probably the best guitarist in rock currently. And they have a cover of Guerilla Radio by Rage Against the Machine: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nnTUmWmJZ7h6q6s And that's much better than the original... to my taste, of course.
