Best rock album of 2018. I agree they could cut one or two of the weaker songs, although Miku's song is cute and fits her personality. Too many favourites to list but Dice, Daydreaming and Anemone stand out for me.

Daydreaming is so awesome. My favorite also. It is so epic and makes you feel stuff. I could see this in a movie or show opening. And the drumming is so interesting in it also

Anemone's become my favorite Band-Maid song ever. It's just...the way the entire song builds up. It's amazing. I love how the girls used more harmonies throughout the album. That four part harmony in Fate is just glorious.

Internet Jesus Totally! I also really love the harmonies in "one and only" they just perfect. Anemone was definitely a surprise. You think it will just be an acoustic song and then "Bang!" It's amazing 😁🎸🎶

I give this CD a 12 on a 10 scale!! Badass vocals, Misa is just badass, Miku is amazing backup vocals and such a beautiful girl, Saki just FN rocks on vocals, Kanami is such a great guitar player. Her rifts are just amazing! How about Akane double base on most of the songs! She is crazy good!

Aside from Kanami‘s and Akane’s amazing compositional skill, I’m also struck by how much of Band Maid’s vocal sound is created thru the combination of Miku and Saiki. It’s like how Alice In Chains used to harmonize. Those 2 voices creating a single vocality. Think I may have made up a word there but that’s what it is. By the way, where are you from or what culture were you raised around? I’m hearing a slight Scottish or Irish accent. Just wondering!
@AxeJapan
@AxeJapan 6 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. being a huge Alice in Chains fan myself I can hear it in the harmonies for sure. Their voices fit so well together and compliment each other amazingly. I don't know if that is a word but I'm going to use it from now on! lol and yes I am from Scotland! Well done haha ^_^ Though I am originally from Holland but I have lived in Scotland since I was 2 years old :)

Dude, Take me Higher is my favorite song on "Just Bring It" (which isn't their first album). Nonetheless, great review. I listened to it only once (so far) and am definitely buying this one. My top 3 (again so far) are Domination and Play are tied and then daydreaming. I'm not much of a ballad kinda guy but that 1 was on it.
@AxeJapan
@AxeJapan 6 жыл бұрын
I just meant 1st Full Length album. or is there another one I don't know about? Haha! It is a good song dude! I love it, its just not my favourite. I absolutely love Alive or Dead on the new album and someone commented basically saying" what are you thinking??" lol. I guess they just some songs that grab people differently. Which is awesome! I'm so glad you liked the review! Yeah man your top 3 is killer! So glad they put Play on the album.

Sorry, I thought you just weren't aware of Brand New Maid or New Beginning. But after thinking how elaborate you are in your analysis and your dedication to the art that you likely would be aware of them. I really really like the mini guitar solo in Alive-or-Dead, so sick. I think what I like most about Play is Misa's bass stands out so much, I'm a little biased toward her since her bass solo in Thrill. But yeah, ultimately, everyone experiences life through different walks of life. What would you say are your top 3 from all their tracks?
@AxeJapan
@AxeJapan 6 жыл бұрын
No worries dude! Yeah I love the mini albums. Though I still don't have a copy of "Maid in Japan" I really need to get that. You must love the bass in "Dice" then? Its so cool. I know Alive or Dead is a simple song but it just has such a cool vibe, its amazing :) Top 3 of all time!? ..... thats hard lol. I would probably say .... The Non Fiction days, Daydreaming and Alone :)
@nicholusshadursky9512
@nicholusshadursky9512 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, Maid in Japan is hard to come by, at least for a reasonable price. YEAH! Misa is great in DICE, I just don't feel its AS unique of a song in comparison. Its definitely a great hit song. Heh heh that's a good selection of songs, especially since it is hard to choose. For me, I'd probably have to go with Beauty and the Beast (I thoroughly just enjoy the energy in combination with the reference), Moratorium... after that its difficult to say... but probably either Non-Fiction Day or Alone... although after hearing the live version of Play that might be it instead. They're just a genuinely awesome band, especially when considering their improvement in such a short time span. I hope they're able to maintain this down the line and not become stagnant... luckily it doesn't seem to be heading that way. :)

@DS-xk6yr

Yeah good review. Agree they could have pared it down by two or three songs to make it more consistently top-end. As far as guitar solos go for me it'd be Daydreaming and Honey (both hit sonic), and Dice, Daydreaming, and maybe Domination as the top three tracks though there're lots in the running. Out of ten I'd give this rock band 10 for musicianship, 10 for musical composition/arrangement, about a 5 for lyrics (a lot might be getting lost in translation but they just don't seem to stand out from what I've seen so far), but another 10 for vocal arrangement/harmonies/and delivery. Musically, they're one of the best new rock bands I've heard in decades anywhere. This is no gimmick band, don't be fooled by the cutesy maid outfits, these girls are stadium rock waiting to happen.

UK customs held it? Really? I'm in the U.S. and I ordered mine through Amazon Japan and I got it in three days. I was worried mine would get held by U.S. Customs. But as I was tracking the shipment, it cleared U.S. customs in a jiffy. Maybe even though it's Amazon Japan, it's still a U.S. based company and Amazon worked out something with U.S. customs to expedite things? But for the U.S., the CD (we don't even get the DVD/blu-ray) was delayed twice. So now it's March 9th.

+mx5hong Yeah, but it only seems to happen from certain sites. I've bought dozens of CDs/DVDs/BRs from YesAsia in Hong Kong, a few from Korea, and tons of assorted items from Jlist & some other sites in Japan with no problems whatsoever. CDJapan always triggers a customs seizure & import fine for me though, I can only assume they're on some kind of list somewhere. I had to in order to pre-order the limited edition with the Blu-Ray concert though, I *love* Moratorium & secret My lips too much. XD edit: Oh, btw it arrived this morning so I've been watching the concert all day haha. ❤❤❤
