To adjust the brightness of the HDRI background, you can typically control the exposure or brightness settings in your rendering software. For the issue of tilting when using HDRI in sphere mode, ensure the horizon of the HDRI aligns correctly with your scene. Additional adjustments might be available, depending on the software you're using. If you're experiencing differences from Chaos Vantage, check specific settings or documentation for consistency. Could you specify the software you're using for more detailed guidance?

Is there any way to preserve the post-production background in Corona tone mapping? One of the things I miss in Corona is not being able to maintain the same original lighting in the background without the post-production affecting it, especially when dealing with areas where there are translucent objects. Creating masks doesn't always help.
@ChaosCorona7 күн бұрын
Not 100% sure what you mean - the Corona Tone Map Control is probably what you need (docs.chaos.com/display/CRMAX/Corona+Tonemap+Control+Map ), but if that doesn't answer your question, please post over on the forums at forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?board=29.0 with more details and examples (images, scenes, screengrabs) that illustrate the problem, and the Support team will be able to see that there (as will the Corona community, who are also very helpful!). Thanks! Tom

Hello, are you sure that increasing HDRI intensity is similar to increasing the exposure? I guess not. Brighter light creates hard and dark shadows, while increasing exposure you boost the overall sensitivity to light. Please let me know if I am correct.
@ChaosCorona Жыл бұрын
Results will be almost identical - brighter light creates hard dark shadows would be true for a single light, but with an HDRI that has a whole sky, this is not the case, as you are increasing the light that gets into those shadows as well (as there is some light coming from every direction), and we can add in the effect of light bounces too (brighter light being bounced, potentially into shadow areas). And raising exposure of course, the shadow areas similarly become brighter. This means it is safe to choose whichever approach you find easiest or that "makes most sense". If an HDRI is at a different exposure (not all are equal) you can adjust that to save tweaking your camera exposure; or if you prefer to think of it as the real world where you can't adjust the exposure of the sky, you can adjust the camera exposure. Either way differences in the look will be pretty trivial. I can't share a comparison photo here on YT, the forums allow for that kind of thing though :) forum.corona-renderer.com/ Hope this helps! Tom

Hi, I am currently trying to figure out what the best (and least buffering) method is to create grass and vegetation in general. In this video the grass and vegetation looks amazing! Do you have any video or post/blog about how to do that already? If not, is a tutorial on that in planing? P.S. thank you so much for trying to answer every single comment! Its really appreciated!
@ChaosCorona3 жыл бұрын
You are welcome, we try to reply to all comments as much as possible :) You can download the scene for yourself, see the description, it's an Evermotion scene - so you can take a look at how they set it up. For learning how to create this on your own, search for the scatter tutorials here on our channel, there are several e.g. kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4m2qmuvpbWDi7M and kzbin.info/www/bejne/a6K1Y5yYgLZkY5o should be the two main ones. Hope those help! Tom

I'm on 3dsMAX 2020 and Corona 7. I have the Corona Lights available, but nothing in the Slate Materiel Editor as you show. What's up with that you think? (So I'm lost since Corona is not listed anywhere in the right-click menu)

Have you changed your render engine to corona in render setup panel (f10)?
@ChaosCorona2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear you are having an issue. First best thing is to upgrade to Corona 9, lots of new features and who knows, the installation may fix this along the way. Failing that you can always submit a ticket at support.chaos.com/requests/new and our support team can help out (they can't monitor KZbin comments). Hope this helps! Tom

Sorry to hear you are having some problems. Unfortunately, it's not possible to provide technical support via KZbin (as we'd need screenshots of scene and render set up, or need a back and forth with Q&A, none of which KZbin allows for), but we'll be able and happy to help if you open a ticket with us at support.chaos.com/requests/new - you can even send in the scene, privately direct to us, which is always a big help as we can then look directly at what is going on. Thanks! Tom

Direct Visibility doesn't work at me.
@ChaosCorona2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear you are having problems - we'd need a lot more info though, and the place to share that is via ticket support.chaos.com/requests/new or via forums forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?board=29.0. When writing there (our support team can't monitor KZbin comments) please explain more about what you mean (Direct Visibility render element? Environment Override Direct visibility? Rayswitch Direct Visibility? Most likely second one, but we'd need to be sure :) ), which version of Corona, the scene or at least screengrabs of your set up, which host software and version, and a clearer description of how it "doesn't work" (e.g. adding a different HDRI into a second Corona bitmap and using that in the Direct Visibility of the Env Override does not replace the HDRI in a first Corona Bitmap in the Max Environment slot). Thanks! Tom
